Phim D. Sera is the current Captain of the Feather Pirates[1], as well as a former Knight of the Flower Kingdom on the island of Avalonia in North Blue. Exiled from her homeland after winding up on the wrong side of a civil war in her country from the World Government, she has since lead a life of piracy across the seas.

Currently she and her crew reside in the New World, having set up a base upon the island of Sad August. Her last known bounty is Beli Small.png417,000,000, Which was she was assigned in 1577.

Appearance

A moderate-sized woman, Sera Phim is not an imposing figure by any means. Standing at an average 182 centimeters, many across the sea tower over her, yet she doesn’t seem all that small. Sera radiates an air of quiet confidence that seems to make the angel seem far larger than a simple view of her would suggest. In later years this effect is still present, but is amplified by a much more fiery look in the Angel’s gaze, giving her a more imposing presence.

In terms of looks, Sera has respectable looks with alabaster skin and golden hair. While Sera is not one that likes to show herself off, people find themselves attracted to her sparkling sapphire eyes. Her body is muscular and toned, as befitting a former knight. Sera’s body is also noticeably scarred, from the gash across her left side to the burn marks that mar her upper right arm and shoulder, nearly reaching her chest[4].

She always stands tall, as if at attention, which is a holdover from her past. This posture may seem to make her unapproachable, but the warm smile she sports helps her come off as a friend, even to those that would normally consider her enemies.

Her normal attire consists of a blue shirt attached by some ties at her neck. This allows her to manifest her wings without destroying her outfit in the process. In addition, she wears semi-loose leggings underneath an armored skirt. Her legs are covered with steel boots, which also double as her shoes. These are used to support her brawling style of fighting.

By 1580, Sera has shown to become much more used to her transformations. No longer keeping her back bare to allow her wings to manifest, she has begun wearing a button up shirt and vest, adopting a far more businesslike look than her previous outfit of convenience. She keeps her hair in a loose ponytail for convenience, but overall keeps a dignified demeanor in her cobalt gray suit. Her boots have received an upgrade as well, as during the years she spent in the arena she had won a pair of Adamantine boots, which she has christened Prydwen. These boots are a teal color in appearence with silver furnishings along the outside to provide a more visual flair.

By 1584, Sera seems to have ditched the jacket, wearing just a dress shirt with her suit-like pants. She also has begun to wear her hair down, albeit will still corral it into a loose ponytail when she needs to. She also regularly wears a pair of dark sunglasses out in public, presumably to make her slightly harder to identify when her fruit isn’t active.

Once Sera activates her devil fruit’s transformation abilities, the first thing that is noticeable is a halo upon her head that lights up as she begins to call upon her abilities. A soft ring of golden light, it floats around six inches off the top of her head, and will show up regardless of Sera’s desires as she begins to use her abilities.

While her basic hybrid transformation does produce much in the way of physical changes to Sera, unlike many other zoan devil fruits, it does produce one in particular. While using her transformation, Sera may be seen sporting anywhere from one to ten snow-white wings. While she has an even number manifested, they will be symmetrically grown out of her back, while with odd ones one will be missing it’s pair.

Activating Bright Furnace sees a much bigger change in Sera’s appearance, with her look becoming much more wild and unrefined. Fire constantly flows from the corner of her mouth as she exhales the flames she has internalized. This collects into her hair and wings, leaving both raging with golden fire. In this form she is almost constantly surrounded with a flaming aura, the refined knight turned into the fiery warrior made manifest.

Personality

Sera is a kind person at heart, overall a rather gentle being. She is well-liked by her crew and respected by her companions. She was a distinguished member of the Flower Knights before the civil war and was held in high regards even by her enemies during the drawn-out conflict. While she is a disciplined being, as befitting her social status, she knows when to be stern and when to be kind. She is even willing to extend mercy to those who have attacked her, as shown when she had Serena Gratzianowi’s wounds treated before releasing her after the woman had attacked her ship and severely burned Sera[5][6].

She is a very masculine character in terms of personality, not caring for more feminine roles or traits. She doesn’t shy away from hard work, and even enjoys it. You are far more likely to find her working out, enhancing her physique than ever to find her sitting down and getting her nails polished.

As a firebrand in the ranks before she was exiled from her kingdom, Sera is an extremely headstrong woman, unchanging in her motivations or convictions even when the easier path might be to just go to the flow. She stuck by her lord, ready to accept her own death before she allowed herself to be dishonored by switching sides, unlike many. If he hadn’t ordered her to escape the kingdom, she honestly would have died defending him. She has only ever run during combat once, and that event still haunts her to this day. This shame of hers manifests as a protectionist streak, causing her to be incredibly defensive about her crew, going to great lengths to protect them from harm. She even was referred to as a Mother Hen by Gratzianowi Serena for rushing to the aid of her men so quickly.

Her willpower is immense, having fought in situations she knew might kill her out of honor and her own stubbornness. Examples include when she fought to protect a column of civilians from an approaching army while already on the brink of exhaustion[7], or when she utilized all of her power to protect Yenny Town from Tom Glynn’s attack when she could have easily just protected herself[8], to standing firm against Serena’s explosion in order to make sure the other woman couldn’t escape to attack her ship further[5].

History

Sera was born as the eldest of two daughters in the noble house of Phim. Born to Delilah and Marion Phim, she was raised from a young age to follow in her father’s footsteps as a knight of the Flower Kingdom. Normally this fell to the role of the eldest son of the family, but she only ever had a sister. Her early childhood was peaceful, living well under the rule of the king. They were a wealthy kingdom, peaceful and happy. The Phim family had some trouble, with Sera’s father dying to a heart attack when she was six years old. But overall she had a good life, even then.

Sera began training at a young age, becoming a squire to one of the senior knights in the kingdom, one Arthur Clarent. A man who was like a second father to her. There she met two other squires, who would go on to be her best friends. Valerie Balderson, another girl in the same situation as Sera, and Morgan Clarent, Sir Arthur’s son. The three served together, inseparable in duty and friendship, for nearly ten years. They lived, laughed, and grew up together, knowing bonds deeper than many could ever imagine. To Sera, the two were even closer family than her mother and sister back home. But it wouldn’t last forever.

The year Sera turned nineteen, the old king died. Normally, his position would fall to his eldest son, Sera’s lord and master. However, the younger brother, a prince by the name of Redrick, had designs upon his brother’s life and throne. He gathered a number of noble houses to back his claims, houses that wanted greater importance within the kingdom. Nearly a third of the houses responded to his call, while the balance supported the true king. Unfortunately, the General of the Flower Army was one that followed Redrick’s call to arms. House Clarent was one of his chief vassals. While Sera and Valerie were pledged to the elder brother’s claim.

The trio was split in the time of war and bloodshed. Sera spent six months on the front lines before she was given a task. A task to hire some additional troops from a kingdom in the grand line. Unfortunately, a chance encounter with a certain pirate left her too injured to negotiate, and overall most of the negotiations fell through, leaving her with far fewer troops than she had hoped[9].

The civil war ended when the World Government intervened, coming down on the side of the traitor prince. Sera was forced to flee the island as her lord died to give his people a chance to escape.

This is where she was forced to fight the man she considered to be a father to her, and almost died to him, eventually being saved by Morgan, who left her with a man named Brisei Augus. The two were assigned a bounty, her for escaping the Flower Kingdom, him for reasons unknown. The two formed the Feather Pirates after she had recovered, and have set off towards the Grand Line for reasons known only to themselves[1].

Relationships

Feather Pirates

Sera has shown to be extremely protective of her crew, even being called a Mother Hen by Serena for how quick she was to protect them. She has shown to be more than willing to suffer severe injury to keep them safe. However even by 1581, by which the organization had grown significantly, Sera had still shown the same level of care to her members. She was more than willing to defend them without forcing them to risk themselves on little to no notice, and even still knew the entire crew of six hundred by name.

Sera trusts and relies on Augus to keep the ship running whenever she is not directly commanding the crew directly[10]. She also is shown to care about him, asking him to make sure to be careful when he went off to the marine’s ship, and then rushing out to save him when he was defeated.

Sera’s trust for Augus has been mostly at the forefront of their friendship, as Augus has been her first mate for nearly a decade now. Even in the light of his perceived betrayal during the encounter with Ogre Andre noted that if it had been anyone but Augus and Ovis that had pulled the stunt they did they’d have been in severe trouble. While she wishes he’d be more proactive in running things, she understands his nature and generally nocturnal behavior isn’t something he necessarily has control over.

Later on, it was stated by Andre that Sera gives a fair amount of leniency to Augus, as he noted that if it had been anyone but Augus and Ovis who had interrupted her fight like that, even in one of the outbuildings of the village he and Ogre would be in the blast radius of her fury.[11].

A relatively early addition to the crew, Sera and Nathaniel have known each other for nearly eight years now. While not the closest on the crew due to Sera’s slight off-put opinion due to Nathaniel’s sometimes strange behavior, she none-the-less has shown similar levels of protectiveness over her musician as the rest of her crew.

Sera initially was extremely confused with her meeting of Ovis, as she found the man occupying her bed. This led her to become extremely familiar with his devil fruit. Sera has since then been extremely wary of Ovis’s abilities due to her susceptibility to them[12]. She has however been relatively gentle with the man and cares about him like the rest of her crew.

By 1581, Sera still trusts Ovis, though she can get exasperated with him at times. She is generally gentle with him due to his tendency to pull the wool over her, but that doesn’t stop her from knowing how to punish the helmsman when he does manage to make her angry, as shown during the encounter with Ogre as she poured a bucket of water on him for knocking her out right before she planned to put down Ogre and end the fight.

Later on, it was stated by Andre that Sera gives a fair amount of leniency to Ovis, as he noted that if it had been anyone but Augus and Ovis who had interrupted her fight like that, even in one of the outbuildings of the village he and Ogre would be in the blast radius of her fury.[11].

Sera was initially skeptical of Quinn’s intentions but eventually trusted the woman enough to make her the Feather’s Quartermaster due to her years of Merchant experience.

A loyal knight pledged to Sera, Andre was originally a member of a vassal house to Sera’s. Sera has shown to trust him implicitly to act as her messenger. She had a friendly relationship with Andre prior to the events of the Flower Civil War, as Andre was not only engaged to Sera’s sister but also had a friendly rivalry with Sera’s fiance at the time, Clarent Morgan. During the war Sera showed her own loyalty to her people back when she raced to save Andre’s house after Sera’s sister betrayed them all. She was shown embracing Andre after the loss of his entire family in the ambush that she had been too late to prevent.

When Sera first met Gabrielle, the first thing that could be inferred from her reaction was confusion. Gabrielle had snuck aboard her ship and was making pumpkin pie. While normally someone slipping aboard her vessel without her knowledge would annoy Sera, Gabrielle’s fruit blunted this section of Sera’s personality leaving her only with confusion and bemused acceptance. Having decided to give the strange woman a chance, Sera allowed her to stay on the ship after their initial meeting.

Another one of the Angel’s knights, Sera and Winston have been shown to have a joking relationship. With Winston’s general dislike of protocol and Sera’s more casual personality, most of their conversations seem to alternate between serious statements and lighthearted barbs at each other.

A recent join to the crew, Sera has been shown to accept the taunts of the talented journalist, and despite his unclear motivations trusts him enough to help her in her plans. The two seem amicable enough, and their shared history in the fighting pits beneath steelworks island means the two are more than familiar with each other. Marlon has also acquired the rights to write a biography of Sera in exchange for his assistance, and as such knows many details related to her past, which is not something Sera tells often.

Marines

While Sera shows dislike for the Marine due to her general hatred of Marines and the woman’s attempt to sink her ship, she was willing to show enough mercy to send the woman off instead of just slitting her throat after the fishwoman lost.

While Sera didn’t interact with Uveto much during the The Manly Incident, her brief meeting didn’t help with her opinion of the marines, especially when Uveto tried to have her executed in her cell. While she never met him again after that incident, she holds a hefty dislike for the man.

During the events of Muscular World, Sera met up with Benjamin as the various pirates and Marines mulled around the castle gate before their audience with the King and Queen. Treating the man very informally, and even giving him a nickname, the two are clearly familiar with each other. Albeit exactly how they know each other is unknown. But Sera at the bare minimum proved entertained enough by the Marine to tease him, something she continued once she had drawn a short Haoshoku burst out of him from her antics.

Pirates

One of the orchestrators of the The Manly Incident, Sera and Drax are enemies, and even after his defeat and imprisonment, remain so. While Sera holds a very justifiable grudge against him, at this point her revenge has already been completed, and as such he doesn’t enter her thoughts often anymore.

During their conflict Sera showed a modicum of respect for his abilities, and severe annoyance for his antics, but otherwise mostly anger for the whole breaking her nose then kidnapping her bit. Something that was rectified after Sera broke free and kicked him through a mountain and across an island.

During their meeting on the island of Salistry, Sera and Arsen met on fairly good terms. Originally confusing the man as he walked in while she was burning all of the alcohol out of Lokapal’s system so he didn’t die from it, the two remained friendly during the conversation. Leaving the bar to head to the ship auction to meet up with her crew, Sera introduced Arsen to them and even helped him pick out a ship that he could use as his new one. The two departed the island on amicable terms, albeit they left to two separate locations.

While it’s unknown exactly what opinion Sera holds of Arsen, at bare minimum it is known that it’s a friendly enough of one.

Army of Sparta

Due to their less than ideal first meeting, Sera’s initial reaction to Ogre was one of pure hostility. While she eventually came to understand that he was merely a hothead and a battle obsessed man, Sera held more than a bit of anger and resentment for that man during their battle as he had invaded her home, one of the few surefire ways to get on her bad side.

While she eventually came to accept this side and stop holding it against him, it was something that was prevalent throughout their fight. She also expressed significant annoyance at his antics, particularly the random marriage proposal.

After the fighting as ceased, her views on Ogre have softened a bit, and came to a amicable enough relationship to the general that she was willing to reveal the circumstances around her exile from her old kingdom and how she came to be in the position she was in now. By this point the two seemed friendly enough, albeit it was obvious that both were still a bit guarded with each other.

Flower Kingdom

Clarent Arthur

Sera considers Arthur to be a second father to her after hers died. She was visibly pained when she had to fight him, as she realized Arthur’s honor wouldn’t let him back down.

Later on it’s revealed that Sera squired under Arthur, and knew why he had changed sides.

Clarent Morgan

One of Sera’s best friends, Morgan and her share an extremely close relationship. Their final conversation before Sera’s departure from the island suggests something else may have been going on between them, but it wasn’t elaborated on at the time.

Later on it is revealed that the two were engaged, though that has long since been annulled. The two were extremely friendly with each other in the past, with constant jokes and smiles being the rule of the day. Currently it is unknown how their feelings for each other play out, as it is one of the few things Sera actively avoids talking about.

Delilah is Sera’s mother, and for most of her life the two had an normal familial relationship with each other. Even after the death of her husband, Sera’s father, the two could still be described as close.

However this changed during the events of the Flower Civil War, with the two at first becoming more distant due to Delilah’s urging that Sera switch sides away from the loyalist faction. Sera refused, and they drifted apart over time.

After later revelations that Delilah was responsible for the death of Sera’s father, it can be assumed that Sera now holds a severe grudge against her mother, as Sera held her father in extremely high esteem. Considering that there is a good chance that Delilah also tried to end her as well, only failing due to the properties of the Angel, it can be assumed that the feeling is mutual.

Even though Sera despises her mother at this point, when given the opportunity to take revenge for the wrongs inflicted, Sera declined to pursue it, instead abandoning the remains of her old family outright for her current one. She no longer considers her mother to be family at this point.

Sera’s younger sister, Melissa Phim and Sera hold a severe sense of anger towards each other. Betraying her sister, fiance, and family, she has since married the current king of Avalonia.

While the two seemed to get along when they were younger, the rift in their upbringing and the fact that Melissa never left her mother’s side until far later saw that the two drifted farther apart over the years. Even into early adulthood before Sera’s realization of her sister’s ambitions Sera was friendly to the other Phim.

But vengeance was sworn by the angel after Melissa betrayed Sera and her fiance Andre by killing Andre’s father in cold blood and fleeing to the other side of the Flower Civil War. An issue that was exacerbated by her marriage to the current king of the flower kingdom.

Sera eventually went back to settle the score with what she described as a traitorous witch of a sister, but was unwilling to exact her vengeance once she got there, instead deciding to leave the past in the past and simply abandoning her old home entirely. It is unknown what she currently thinks of Melissa, but it is known that Sera doesn’t consider her family anymore.

King Redrick

The man who orchestrated the death of Sera’s lord and her exile. Sera holds a deep-seated hatred for him. During the events of Ogre’s invasion of Sad August and the subsequent conversation, Sera revealed that she is aware of the events that lead up to the Flower Civil war and Redrick’s role in them. She repeatedly claims that her old life burned on the altar of the lesser king’s ambition.

However even despite her rage against the man, when Sera was presented an opportunity to get back at the corrupt tyrant, she declined for her own sake, as all that would occur was more pain, and she didn’t value her vengeance against Redrick highly enough to harm the people of her home further. As such, while she retains a severe hatred against the man, she no longer pursues his downfall.

Kyrie Valerie

One of Sera’s best friends, Valerie and her share an extremely close relationship. Sera has thought about Valerie’s opinions on several occasions, even joking that Valerie would never forgive her if Sera allowed her chest to be scarred. It was revealed during an SBS that the two dated at some point, but it is unknown when or for how long.

It is later revealed that Valerie was crippled during the events of the Flower Civil War, which is something Sera seems to blame herself for.

Powers and Abilities

As the captain of the Feather Pirates, Sera has complete control over her crew of pirates. Back in paradise, there were around forty of them, which Sera was more than able to manage in their entirety. She managed to get them through even the worst of crisises, including the defeat of the Strongest Crew In Paradise at the time, the Manly Pirates.

In 1580, the Feather Pirates had grown significantly, reaching around six hundred in the organization across five seperate ships, of which Sera delegated control of the individual ships to trusted crew members, albeit she maintained overall control over her small fleet.

By 1584 Sera’s groundwork in building up her forces has mostly paid off, with the crew and its subordinates numbering at around two thousand in total. Considering that they were still the underdogs in the New World, she maintained that the crew never exceed a size that couldn’t all be moved out by ship at once, leading them to have a combined total of fifteen ships between the crew. While she maintains that her title is that of a captain, she is more reasonably considered a fleet admiral due to the size of the organization.

Physical Abilities

Sera is a powerful fighter, strong as any that may ply the seas. She has enough power to press veteran fighters to their utmost even while exhausted[7]. Sera is unique among many, in that her physical abilities can increase as the fight goes on.

Even in her base form, at her weakest, she is fast enough to dodge numerous knives with little notice, though some eventually managed to connect[13]. She is also capable of throwing a heavy barrel a significant distance with enough speed and force to throw a pirate with a bounty of 14 million off-balance without the enhancement provided by her wings[14].

This scales up with each additional wing she manifests, to the point where she can perform feats of significance. This includes things such as stopping a one-ton racquet from hitting her with her wings alone[15], or kicking a heavily armoured man with such force she was able to carve a hole through his side and cratering the ground behind him despite him raising his guard[16].

During the fight with Douglas Drax and the Manly Pirates, Sera showed even higher levels of strength, catching a several ton boulder with only a single hand at two wings, and kicking with the power to cut a large marine prison vessel in half with four.

Sera is also durable, having taken numerous injuries. She has survived heavy injury, such as being run through with a great sword[17], or being caught in a point-blank explosion[5] without flinching. She has even continued fighting despite being completely exhausted, and has blocked explosions of great magnitude without injury[8].

After spending several years fighitng in the arena beneath Steelworks Island, Sera has increased her physical capabilities significantly. Capable of blocking the strikes of Ogre, one of the physically strongest fighters in the world, she showed off her own prodigious strength as she was able to block one of his kicks even with three wings, to almost forcing him to eject the contents of his stomach with six, to even in one of her mid-tier fighting forms being capable of striking hard with an enhanced kick to shatter the giant of a man’s arm through his Busoshoku Haki, albeit Ogre later noted that he hadn’t protected his arm to the level that he should have.

Her speed was no less impressive, when at ten wings she was capable of moving so fast that Ogre had difficulty keeping up, forcing him to take hundreds of attacks before he could finally predict where she’d be to the point where he could catch her. This was after she had been able to not only keep up with his attacks, but outspeed him to the point where he was forced into multiple last second blocks to defend himself. She was even shown to have the reflexes to react to his last moment counterattacks, something Ogre noted almost no one had been able to successfully do before.

While not necessariy noted for her durability, by 1581 Sera is nonetheless capable of standing up to heavy duty strikes without flinching. In her fight with Ogre after he taunted her about being able to end the fight with a single punch, she allowed the man who was capable of quaking entire islands through sheer physical strength land an unguarded punch directly to her forehead. The end result was morely a cut by her hairline. She blocked numerous heavy strikes with mere crossed arms, and was smashed a dozen meters into the earth by a massive downstrike only to receive minor injuries at best. Even getting slammed into the earth over and over again by her muscular opponent only proved to be a minor issue, as despite the repeated attacks she avoided injury long enough to force the giant to let her go.

Versatile Knowledge

While not a genius by any means, Sera is a fairly intelligent individual. Scholarly knowledge is nearly as important for an aspiring knight as combat prowess. The nation would not always be at war, so there would not always be a demand for martial prowess. Sera herself is trained in numerous fields, allowing her to serve as a secondary in basically every role on the crew, though a specialist will generally outdo her knowledge in any particular field.

Tactical & Strategic Acumen

Trained to eventually wade into the realms of both social and martial maneuverings, Sera has been forced over the years to amass a large amount of experience in planning both long and short-term strategies and tactics. A field she has shown promise above a majority of her contemporaries, she has managed to build a large organization while being targeted by both the Marines and at least one of the Yonko crews, mostly without either of them knowing just how successful she has been.

Being able to both plan out a long term strategy while also being able to change her tactics on the fly, Sera has proven herself to be an adept leader of the men and women under her. While more than a few times she has been forced into gambles, she has routinely shown to be able to outplan and outplay her opposition, ranging from being able to frustrate Serena’s attempts to damage her ship repeatedly, to successfully taking down an organization of over two thousand people with less than two dozen, to utilizing the creations of one of the Yonko against them to hide out in an increasingly unfriendly ocean.

On a tactical level she has shown to be capable of complex planning, and even accounting for the expected actions of her opponents. This was shown when she revealed the basics of her plan to Leo Wallace[18], establishing not only the immediate steps in taking down the Widow Patrols to not only aggravate them, but also to reduce their intelligence footprint and provide the steps to forcing a decisive encounter in a a place that would cause less collateral damage. This is in addition to her explanation of their deadline to complete their escapabe before Kosaka Isshin showed up, as that was a fight they could not win.

On a more strategic level, Sera has been intentionally and quietly building up an armada for years, only receving a modest bounty increase in the new world despite being constantly active for over four years on the sea. This was due to her attempts to keep flying under the radar, avoiding unnecessary fights and taking steps to prevent her actions from being observed by her opposition when at all possible so she could focus on her plans without outside interference. This was despite that the world government, even Cipher Pol Aegis Zero, was looking for her, and she had made enemies of the Black Widow Pirates during her adventures do to her potential danger to the stability of the systems legs has set up.

Sera has also gathered extensive information on her opposition, knowing at least the playbook that the Black Widows use when they conquer a new island, which was not common knowledge[18]. It is also implied that she has been researching the abilities of the executives of the organization, but little is known there.

Fighting Style

A brawling-type fighter, Sera’s way of combat is disimilar to many. Focusing on flexibility and freedom of movement, very few in the world can match the sheer level of mobility that the angel uses as a cornerstone of her fighting style. While not as complex or sophisticated as most martial artists, the versatility of Sera’s fruit combined with her generally overpowering physical abilities allows her to overwhelm even most physical fighters in a pure contest of statistics.

While fighting, Sera relies on heavy usage of her devil fruit, mixing long, short, and mid range attacks into each other, only modified based on which type she is currently most invested in. In her base form she usually mixes in a bunch of medium and short range combat, using bursts of solid light and flames to open up opportunities for her to strike a hefty physical blow, as well as using the opposite tactic to blast them away with pillars of light and flame.

Due to the amount of options she has in upping her physical abilities, Sera rarely runs into a case where she is the physically weaker party to whatever fight she has found herself in. Even when she does find this to be the case, she still has shown the creativity and skill to break through, as evidenced by her triumphing against the overwhelming physical might of Drax Douglas, a powerful user of fishman Karate. Unable to match him in a purely physical contest, Sera was forced to rely on the versatility and depth of her skills to make up the difference, and in the end she emerged victorious.

Even against Ogre, one of the physically strongest people plying the seas, she was more than capable of holding her own even though she was almost immediately forced to cede the category of raw strength to the giant of a man. Instead she ended up focusing on using her superior speed and mobility, fighting the giant to a draw until that fight was eventually interrupted.

In terms of actual strikes, Sera is more than capable of launching her assault from any direction or position. Preferring to use a kicking style primarily, she rapidly darts around the battlefield, striking her opponent from all angles as they work to keep up, something emphasized by one of her techniques, Golden Cannon, Dancing Iris, where she dances around her opponent on panes of light, striking at the edges repeatedly and rapidly to wear them down.

Her style with these attacks is highly acrobatic, and flexible depending on the situation. Her attacks are very rarely complicated though, as her usual physical dominance and lack of formal training have lead her to a more simplistic style of movement. When Sera hits a target, she strikes it fast and hard. But her style is far too direct and straightforward for a more tricky style of combat.

Devil Fruit

Phim D. Sera is the current user of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Angel[3], a Mythical Zoan type devil fruit. This fruit gives her the power to turn into an Angel Woman.

While Sera has never shown her full transformation, she has used the fruit’s hybrid transformation numerous times. The most obvious physical change that Sera undergoes when she activates her devil fruit is that she grows snow-white wings. During her intial run throughout paradise, she was shown to be capable of growing up to five of these wings[19], though she can manifest more than her body can handle on the pains of extreme exhaustion[20]. Sera is able can create up to thirteen wings in this manner[21]. Each of these wings increases her body’s physical power by an amount equal to her base form, allowing her to increase her physical capabilities up to thirteen times her base form.[22]. In addition, a halo manifests over her head, providing a soft light through even the most rugged darkness.

These wings are a cornerstone of Sera’s fighting style, as she is able to harden them like steel. She will block and attack with them even as she is punching and kicking about, the up to 9 limbs she is able to fight with overwhelming most opponents. These wings have been known to block both swords and bullets.[23][15]

Sera’s full Zoan tranformation looks far different than most people would expect an angel to appear. Instead of a heavenly looking being of fair skin and golden hair, instead she takes the form of a ring of stone dotted with one-hundred and eleven eyes. When damaged, this form cracks and pieces can break off, revealing more stone beneath. She is incapable of bleeding in this form, as shown when she used it to survive the damage of Umori Kenshiro cutting off her arm during their confrontation. Her flames are noted to be significantly more powerful in this form.

While angels are known for many things, ranging from their divine voice, their powers over souls, and the choirs that define them, there is one thing that angels show to the world. Angels purify the unclean, leaving things healthier and restored from before. Angels brought fire to the world to cleanse its impurities, and that fire is inherent to the abilities provided by this fruit.

This Holy fire is versatile, allowing her to seemingly generate constructs out of holy light or create flames that burn the damned.[24][25]. While the fire is just what she generates normally, she has turned this into a seemingly second power by compacting the fire to the point that it just looks like panes of light.

The primary use of holy fire comes in two variants. One variant allows her to generate barriers or projectiles out of golden light[24], the other is her ability to generate holy fire to burn her enemies[25]. Neither of these abilities has shown to have any particular limit, though her flames are shown to go out if the oxygen in an area is removed[26].
The natural side effect of the Holy Energy abilities that the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Tenshi grants Sera is the ability to purify impure substances; such as poisons, diseases, or other toxins. Angels were noted healers, and this trait has been passed down to her holy light. She is capable of removing impurities from both herself and the area around her with efficiency, allowing her to stand in toxic environments with impunity[27]. She can even remove it from other beings as well. While this process is fast, it is not instantaneous. As seen by her Burning Meteor attack against Drax Douglas, Sera appears to be immune to her own flames [28]

Bright Furnace

During the events on Sad August, Sera was consistently pushed deeper into her arsenal during her fight with Ogre. Eventually forced to start taking more drastic measures to keep up, Sera revealed a technique known as Bright Furnace[29].

This technique is initiated by consuming a portion of her fruit’s flames. By containing it within her own body, Sera is able to use her natural immunity to her own fire to stoke this flame, internalizing the flames to a high degree to the point where they began to seep back out into a firey aura. This is most commonly noticed when normal breaths cause streams of fire to flow from Sera’s mouth, fire that quickly coalesces in her hair and feathery wings.

Beyond enhancing the destructive scale of her flame based attacks[29], Sera also has shown the ability to use her flames as a jet of sorts to enhance the strength of her strikes.[30]

Haki

Originally, Sera was unaware of what Haki was, having grown up in the relatively calm seas of the four blues. It wasn’t until the events on the Mountain’s Rest that she initially learned of it’s existence. Having learned far more about it in the fighting pits far beneath the Red Line from a plethora of ancient gladiators, by now Sera is more than familiar with all the basic concepts behind it, though even she will admit she has a long way to go.

Haoshoku Haki

While Sera was not initially aware of true nature of this ability, she has shown the ability to manifest Haoshoku Haki. She first used Haoshoku Haki to take down Jenkins Terry when he attempted to execute her[31]

In the years since the Manly Incident, Sera has become much more proficient with the usage of Haoshoku Haki. Beyond just her initial burst of it that she showed back on The Mountain’s Rest, she has shown to be proficient enough at it to target her usage to affect specific individuals. This ranges from a few incidents, such as during her conversation with Lokapal where she was able to knock out the entire bar without her Haoshoku Haki reaching the other pirate, despite him being the closest person to her.[32]. This was also shown during the events on the island of Florencia, when Sera showed to be proficient to affect a single individual almost instantly with nothing but a simple glance. Despite this person being in the middle of a group of similar strength individuals, none of them showed any effects from Sera’s Haoshoku, while the Black Widow Hatchling who had drawn her ire had seized up before passing out again. [33]

Busoshoku Haki

During the fight with Ogre, Sera ended up being forced to use Busoshoku Haki to defend herself after Ogre used it to empower his attacks[34]. While she proved to be able to darken her arms with the Koka technique in the process, she noted that Ogre’s Busoshoku Haki was stronger than her’s.

Kenbunshoku Haki

While Sera has never been outright confirmed to be able to use Kenbunshoku Haki, she has been shown to be able to sense presences at a distance, even ones that she would have no way of detecting with her eyes or ears alone [35].

Synopsis

Dawn of the Rookies

This arc is about the early sections of Paradise and the Feather’s trip through them.

Battle at Reverse Mountain

Roleplay: Merged Blood

Sera participated in the Rookie Rush, an event that took place when a large number of rookies from the four blues all attempted to break into the Grand Line at the same time while the Marines were focused on the Yonko in the New World. She was initially seen standing upon the bow of her ship, watching as the storm rolled through the region. She observed the two marine ships blocking their path, noting that they would have to fight to get past them.

This continued until Augus offered to go scout out the ships, which she allowed after telling him to be careful. She deflected the hail of projectiles that had been aimed at the ship with flurries of razor-sharp arrows when the marine ships opened fire upon the approaching hoard of pirates. The ships continued approaching each other until Sera decided to break the standoff by firing a volley of golden light in the shape of spears at the nearest Marine vessel. These were intercepted by Gratzianowi Serena, alerting Sera to the fishwoman’s approaching presence.

When Serena hopped onto the mast and began raining fire and poison gas onto the ship, Sera shielded it with a golden light, even as she wrapped herself with her wings. Her wings protected her from the fire, while her ability to purify allowed her to stand within the poison gas with no issues[24][27]. Once the rain had washed both of those off the deck, she leapt into action, jumping up to the top of the mast in a single action to confront the Marine.

After confronting Serena, Sera was engulfed in another burst of poisonous gas as the Marine attempted to cripple her ship.

Sera stopped Serena as she attempted to destroy the ship’s wheel, stopping the Woman’s massive weapon with a wing covered leg after a further brief exchange that resulted in minor injuries to both sides, Serena took a member of the crew hostage. Sera saved her crew member with a Gambit that easily could have killed him, forcing the Marine to choose between killing the man while being locked in a dome with Sera, or escape and leave him alone. The latter option was chosen.

Serena attempted to escape, throwing every single weapon from under her skirt she could at Sera as she pursued. Despite sustaining numerous hits from the weapons, the speed provided by all five of her wings allowed her to catch up to the woman[36].

The Marine detonated a napalm bomb a point-blank range in an attempt to ward Sera off, but Sera would not be denied, sticking her arm into the explosion to prevent the Fishman from escaping underwater. Despite the pain of her arm being severely burned Sera held on and prevented the fish woman from escaping[4]. She then proceeded to use her holy light to smother the flames, preventing the bomb from causing the pair more lasting damage.

Serena lost consciousness in Sera’s embrace and was released on a lifeboat once the ship was out of danger.

Shortly after the fight ended, another pirate by the name of Catarina Quinn landed on the boat, running from another marine. Sera utilized a barrel of gunpowder, tossing it into the burning Marine’s path to end the pursuit with an explosion.

Sera struck a deal to take the fleeing woman into the Grand line with her, adding Quinn to her crew once some personal business was dealt with.

At this point, Sera saw Augus falling to the sea under the illumination of a flash of lightning. She raced out towards her first mate, dragging him out with a net of light[37].

The pair returned to the ship afterwards as their ship began it’s ascent into Paradise, leaving the Marines behind in defeat.

She was later seen reading the paper while performing as the ship’s navigator. She commented on Augus’s and her new bounties before making fun of Robert’s home sea, wondering if he pronounced his R’s like Longdagger.

The Gunpowder Plot

Roleplay: On Silent Wings

Sera, Augus, and the rest of the crew spent some time on Yenny island recuperating after the Battle of Reverse Mountain. Afterwards, they moved on to their second stop on the Grand Line, The Kingdom of Alnora[38].

The first thing upon entering the kingdom Sera and the Feathers did was to probe the underbelly of the morally bankrupt country. There she made contact with a local group that was opposed to the current nobility and government. Sera learned that the entire kingdom was run on the principle of collecting as much tax as possible, essentially enslaving the population through debt[39].

Sera and the group hashed out a plan to disrupt this cycle of debt in an effort to potentially reform this kingdom peacefully. She would steal the king’s personal treasury with the group’s assistance. In return, they would split the money, the resistance group using the money to pay off the people’s debt while Sera repaired her ship and paid her crew[40].

The plan was hammered out quickly, leaving Sera to plan her heist. She gained the trust of an old acquaintance, Count Monterey, before overpowering the man and his staff, trapping them in the basement.

She organized a meeting at a tavern in the slums, drawing a number of people there to pitch a job offer. She gave each person a take it or leave it deal, to either join her on her job and they would be rewarded in significant amounts of cash and the opportunity to join her crew, or leave now and not be apart of it.

Several people agreed to help her after she laid out her terms, men and woman who would become part of her crew. These include Jazzman G. Nathaniel, Perserius Lamia, Archimedes D. Alana, and Oliviana Ceus[41].

She took the people she had acquired back to the estate, explaining more of her circumstances before giving them some time off.

Here she found a person sleeping in her bed, Aries Ovis. She attempted to interrogate the man but quickly fell prey to his devil fruit. He eventually joined the mission as well.

During the dinner, Sera laid out her plan to the group. Two teams would be formed, one under Augus and one under herself. Augus’s team would infiltrate the castle and steal the money while Sera’s would cause a ruckus in the party to draw the guards away[40].

After thinking about the people she had to work with, she brought Nathaniel along with her. The dinner eventually ended with each person going about their business until the appointed night.

Sera and Nathaniel took a side path to the party to give them privacy to go over the initial plan. The two discussed it until they reached the party, where Sera went as far as to sign her real name on the guest list[42].

The two enjoyed the party for some time, eating and dancing with the Nobles until it was time to begin their distraction.

Sera sent guests flying with a stroke of her wings as she approached the King of Alnora, announcing her purpose here and preventing the Nobles from fleeing with a wall of flames over the door.

The king attempted to resist, but Sera blocked his attack and brought down the giant of a man with a single Downy Flamberge, the attack cracking the floor[43]. She relieved the now unconscious king of his crown as the Royal Guard came in, fighting off several men with her wings alone while Nathaniel handled the rest.

The pair then finished their performance by relieving the Nobles of their valuables before leaving the party by jumping off the Balcony.

The last that the Royal Guard saw of her and her assistant was her carrying him off into the distance with her snow-white wings.

Upon reaching the dock, she paid off the repair workers who had handled their ship before leaving with the rest of the crew, including her new members[44]. The Feathers sailed away as Sera watched the kingdom slowly disappear with a glass of champagne in her hands. She saw the castle explode, lamenting on the fact that the Resistance group hadn’t held their end of the bargain for peaceful reform. Though she acknowledged that she had given them the perfect scapegoat[45].

She was later seen reading the newspaper in her cabin, grateful the newspaper hadn’t printed the full story and vowing to not let this happen again.

Gallanholm Raid

Roleplay: Scattered Blood

Sera is first seen relaxing on a beach resort in her swimsuit while looking over some documents that Augus had acquired. They detailed a shipment of Cargo bound for Mary Geoise, the ship containing several South Blue Kingdom’s Heavenly Tribute. This included a shipment of slaves, which Sera took offence to.

While the crew discusses the shipment Sera encourages them to relax while they can, even informing Quinn that she had paid for the crew’s Vacation after the depressing ending to their last adventure.

Shortly after a notice board is attracting a fair amount of attention nearby, which Sera investigates. After finding out about the volleyball tournament and its pretty large cash prize, she signs up under the name Kyrie Val, the name of her best friend from her old home. She and the Feathers form two teams to compete in the tournament.

The results of the tournament are unknown, but the Feathers do manage to successfully raid the shipment.

A Manly Disaster

Roleplay: Man Up

While going over the shipping manifests of materials covered on their raid on the Heavenly Tribute ship, Sera receives a mysterious call[46]. Answering it, she only hears her name before the call is disconnected. She heads up to the cabin and announces the ship is leaving after a brief discussion with her first mate.

Sera uses her fruit to wake up her helmsman with a small bolt of light. She chides the navigator over not paying attention to their destination before repeating her earlier briefing about the island of Schluesselschloss, a leading producer of mint.

She eventually casts off with the rest of the crew, who has several days of quiet travels. Eventually, she notices the wall of fog that they are about to sail in. She comments upon how they shouldn’t have reached the island yet, before having Alana use her bird to investigate the fog. Afterwards, Sera enthusiastically asked the crew who wanted to investigate the mountain in the fog.

After they decide to enter the fog, Sera scouted the area around the ship before flying off ahead. Noticing that the water was still pitch black beneath her, she noted it was almost like they were still at deep sea.

Eventually, she reached the shore before sending up a burst of light as a marker. Sera grabbed August, Ovis, Alana, Nathaniel, and a previously unnamed crew member called Berkley to join her, eventually meeting the group on the beach. She left Quinn in charge of the ship in the process.

Sera split them up into two teams, taking one towards the town in the centre while the other left off under the command of Augus. Her team consisted of herself, Berkley, and Nathaniel.

The trio walked all the way from the shore to the centre of the island in a couple of hours, eventually reaching the town. Sera commented about how everyone in the town was afraid of her, wondering if maybe they expected them to raid the town like pirates. Upon Andre commenting that they were in fact pirates, she just remained quiet for a moment before the trio entered the town square.

There she met a number of supposed townsfolk, a group lead by Graham Alexander. The Manly Pirates had unbeknownst to her, laid a trap in the square. Under the guise of presenting tribute in order to avoid their town being razed, they had secreted the other two senior members of the Manly pirates into a large chest. Sera protested even needing to be given tribute to avoid being attacked, as she had no intentions of raiding the place. But she relented after Alexander was extremely insistent on the matter. She muttered how much of a waste of time this was until she opened the chest.

Upon opening it, she barely had time to curse before the ambush was struck in earnest, with Lee Jin’s opening punch out of the box breaking her nose and throwing off her sense of balance. It was all she could do to defend herself from his barrage of attacks as the trio of feathers were set upon on all sides.

She threw up a barrier to buy herself some time while Nathaniel and Andre fought off some of the troops rushing into the Plaza. Eventually regaining her balance, Sera ordered Nathaniel and Andre to leave her and get out of the plaza. Cutting off Nathaniel’s protests, she stated that she’d follow them once they were safe.

But the Manly Pirates weren’t about to let the pair leave. Billy Jo and Mathers Marshall both launched blistering attacks at Sera’s subordinates, just to find their attacks blocked by glowing walls of gold. Free to counterattack due to Sera’s assistance, Andre and Nathaniel took advantage of this opportunity before escaping the plaza, leaving the Angel alone.

Free from distractions, the Manly Pirates concentrated all of their efforts upon Sera, the three commanders of the crew teaming up in an attempt to bring the rookie down. Taking a blow to the arm that knocked her back as she studied the situation, Sera released a hail of feathers that brought down a large number of the crewmembers within the square, though it failed to even phase the three that she considered dangerous.

Lee Jin rushed in again, Sera tanking his punch on her steel wristguards, before using the momentum to attempt to strike the veteran with her Downy Flamberge, though the pirate blocked it on a curled bicep. Letting himself be moved by the attack, he attempted to strike back but Sera caught it with one of her wings. She quickly spun into a kick that Jin quickly ducked even as he struck with a heavy punch that was intercepted by an armored shin.

Sera created some distance as Billy Jo and Marshall entered the fight to back up Jin, blocking the pair’s initial attacks with another golden barrier. Attempting to impale all three with her wings, one was caught by Jin who used it to threw Sera to the ground. Her other three wings intervened, shoving her back and to her feet as Billy Jo and Marshall stamped the earth where she had been a second prior.

She released another hail of razor feathers, which were intercepted by cannonballs of air as Marshall used his Rappou Goudou to blow the projectiles out of the sky.

Sera raised another barrier as the three attempted to strike her at once, the golden wall holding up under the three veteran’s combined efforts as Sera stated that they would not get through her defense and to leave her crew alone.

Asking why they were attacking her and her crew, Billy Jo just laughed at the Feather Pirate, noting that it was their boss’s job to explain.

Another impact landed on her barrier as Drax Douglas announced his presence with a powerful strike, Drax’s Gohyakumaigawara Seiken. Sera showed surprise as her wall of gold began to crack even as she poured power into it. Eventually shattering the wall, Drax pushed through the barrier to strike Sera directly in the chest, sending the angel through several buildings before she impacted halfway into a hill. A simple feather was all she could utter in surprise before she lost consciousness.

Sera woke up an indefinite amount of time later in a Jail Cell. Noting the slight rocking and the wooden structure, she came to the conclusion that she was on a ship. Attempting to use her powers to break out of the strength, Sera was dismayed to find out that her abilities no longer worked. Spending a few minutes attempting to figure out the cause of the lack of her powers, she sat in the cell in silence for several hours before she heard steps coming down the stairs.

Captain Uveto introduced himself, explaining the situation she was in even as Sera stated her confidence that her crew would break her out of these bindings. He responded by firmly noting that her death was imminent, though was quickly interrupted by Sera denying he had the right to make that claim. He introduced Jenkins Terry, also known as Terry the Chopper. He stated to her that the pirate with a bounty of Beli Small.png37,000,000 was here to execute her without the knowledge of the rest of the crew before leaving the two alone. He stated that she had ten minutes left to live before Terry executed her.

Sera and Terry bickered for the ten minutes, the pirate laughing at the captive before pointing his pistol at the capture Feather.

Announcing her surpreme confidence to continue living, Sera unknowingly unleashed a wave of energy as Terry fired, the bullet missing her entirely to impact the wall behind her as the wave stole his conciousness from him. Sera had unknowningly utilized Haoshoku Haki, identifying her as one of the conquerors of the seas.

Sera blinked in confusion for a few minutes, unsure as to what happened as the pirate lay unconscious in front of her cell. She relieved the man of his pistol and knife, but declined to get rid of him under the assumption that it may draw attention that she didn’t want even as she lamented that he didn’t have the key to the cell or her handcuffs.

Eventually Uveto came back to find out whey Terry had yet to return to the surface of the ship to find the pirate unconscious in the hallway. He quickly checked on Sera who waved and confirmed that she was still in fact still in the cell. She responded with confusion to his questions about what happened, as she herself had yet to figure out what exactly had occurred. He made a few cryptic statements, leaving her with only a single clue as to what occurred, something about her becoming a conquerer. He noted that her execution would now be postponed, as Kurama would want to see her. He left with a final comment, that she wished that she had let Terry kill her, it’d be better than what was to come.

Sera spent the next several hours locked in her cell, passing the time in silence as she contemplated what had occurred.

Eventually however her isolation would be ended by the sounds of explosions outside the ship. Her crew had finally come to rescue her. Sera paced impatiently as the explosions continued, before someone she didn’t expect showed up in front of her cell. Meredia of the Chateau Pirates had teamed up with Andre and the pair had worked together to get to her. Andre was currently providing a distraction outside while Meredia snuck onto the ship. Sera quickly took stock of the situation as Meredia explained what was going on. While the pair talked, Meredia found her other two crewmates who had been concious, a half-mink named Murasaki Mori and a human named Merrily Rowing. While Mori was fine, Rowing had been beaten into unconciousness.

Bidden to lead the way out by Meredia, Sera merely smiled and assured the trio that she had a faster way out, and not to worry, they wouldn’t burn.

Grabbing the three, the Angel spread her wings once more, golden flames encasing the three as she burst out of the ship, punching through multiple layers of wood as if it wasn’t there.

Ending her flight a moment later, Sera let herself fall, the flames coalescing onto her feet as she slammed back into the ship, cracking the massive prison barge in half with a single Burning Meteor.

Approaching her crew, she thanked them for coming before the combined pirates left the underground harbor that had contained Sera’s prison.

Sera and co. eventually regrouped with the rest of the crew and made camp for the night, regaining some strength before dawn and the inevitable confrontation that would occur. Finding out about the destruction of their ship by Scotch Brandy, Sera questioned what happened to Quinn, but was met with only shrugs as she had flown off shortly afterwards. The topic of what to do about it was put on hold until after the Manlies were subdued.

During this period she spent a large time in talk with her contemporary, but ultimately it was decided that the two would go their separate ways once they were out of this crisis.

At dawn, bolstered by the remaining crewmembers, even if they were disheartened by the loss of their ship, the Feathers and Chateau Pirates faced off against the full might of the Manly Pirates, nearly three thousand pirates built from the consumed crews of no less than eight prominent rookies in addition to the veteran force that made up the core of the Manly Pirates.

Holed up in a defensive position, the two crews split their members into pairs. Most of the crews would keep the Manly’s attention by fighting within the heavy forest, where the Manly’s superior numbers were less advantageous. While they did this, the remaining members would descend underground and hunt the commanders of the crew, aiming to take down all of the leaders in the hopes that without them the crew would break.

Shedding all of her allies one by one, eventually only Sera remained as she entered the commander center of the Manly Pirates, a cavernous room with only a single occupant in the darkness. Drax Douglas.

A New World

The Feather’s Pirates travels through the New World.

The Between Times

Roleplay: Need a Hand?

Role-play: A Messy Situation

It had been three years since the events on Mountain’s Rest, the home of the long since defunct Manly Pirates, and an ocean away. Sera and the rest of the Feathers had made a home on Sad August, a moderately small island in the New World. Originally a small but prosperous kingdom, it now counted as among the Poisoned Islands created by Rena Argo. While uninhabitable to most people, Sera’s flames had shown their unique property to clean out the poison on the island, and she had spent some time slowly rendering the interior of the island habitable once again by burning away the poison that infested it. Albeit she left the outside edges toxic in an effort to hide their location.

On the day that the forces of the Army of Sparta first found the Feather’s hideaway, Sera was first seen lighting a smoke in the dark confines of her room, studying a map on the table. Looking over it, she mentally catalogued the activities of her crew, the Feathers being spread out over six islands gathering people and supplies.

While she continued plotting out the course of the crew, Sera is interrupted by someone knocking on her suite’s door. Winston entered after he was given permission, informing Sera about a ship spotted to the south.

Lamenting the fact that someone had noticed the irregularities with the island so quickly, she assured the soldier that she would take care of it, along with providing instructions to prepare the crew for combat and get their ship ready to move if need be.

Chuckling as she joked with Winston attempting to make her feel old, Sera watches him leave before hopping to the other side of her room and putting on a pair of Teal armored boots. Strapping them down to make sure they wouldn’t come loose, she picked up the smoke that she had placed down earlier before leaving the room and building, heading to confront the newcomers.

Sera had just cleared the eastern river around the lake that she had placed her base on when she noticed a giant of a man flying through the air towards the island. Commenting to herself that they had moved faster than she expected, she questioned whether or not the stranger approaching could fly. Mulling this for a few seconds, she chalked it up to him being able to jump vast differences before noting that this made things easier as if he attempted to jump the lake to get to her people, he’d never make it across with no ability to maneuver through the air effectively.

Manifesting her halo for a second, she shot a ball of flame near Ogre, giving him a warning shot as she threw away her cigar, the object burning away completely a moment later.

Giving an ultimatum for the giant to leave the island as interlopers weren’t welcome, the pair got into a debate on who truly could claim ownership of the island before Sera tired of the argument and issued a final warning. A fight broke out a moment later.

Manifesting her halo in full, she lead off by through a never-ending series of light walls at Ogre, which the seasoned fighter broke through with ease, and suffered a cut on her shoulder from his return strike despite her tilting her barriers to force the strike off to one side..

Sera quickly manifested two wings as she decided to increase the pressure, amplifying the power of the walls even as Ogre kept breaking through them, though she mixed in waves of razor sharp feathers which left a number of shallow wounds on the man.

Ogre eventually tired of breaking barriers, leaping high into the air as he fell into a heavy punch.

Commenting on how telegraphed this was, Sera debated with herself if Ogre was either toying with her or had vastly overestimated his abilities, and she wasn’t sure which annoyed her more.

Manifesting two more wings, bringing herself to a total of four, Sera pushed Ogre’s punch to the side before she spun into an axe kick aimed towards the giant’s jaw in an attempt to put him down almost immediately. While a good idea on the surface, she quickly found it was the former of her previous debate, as Ogre used the force of his punch to flip himself around in mid air, forcing Sera’s kick to land on the man’s shin,

Left in an awkward position, Sera responded quickly, creating several barriers between her and Ogre’s attack not to stop it, but to reduce his momentum as Sera took advantage of her extreme experience in matters of aerial combat. Noting that strength mattered a lot less in the air, she took advantage of his position to allow her to arrest his momentum completely with only a single leg.

Grabbing the Giant’s leg, Sera twisted around as she swung it around, throwing Ogre a fair distance away as she unleashed another volley of light-clad feathers as a follow up.

Sera stated to herself that she’d feel that attack in the morning even as she massaged her forearms, as despite her own immense strength tanking his attacks was difficult.

A brief bit of banter followed as the opponents talked for a moment in the middle of their fight, with Sera speaking as she took up her stance once more. She also noticed Ogre’s fruit at this point, as the way his muscles were moving quickly turned into something not possible for normal martial arts as he used a fifty-five percent release of his Accession technique.

As combat joined once more, Ogre charged the angel at high speed, but Sera stood her ground. Angling to the outside of his attack, Sera struck him hard on the wrist to allow herself to slip around his punch before striking Ogre directly in the side with her Burning Shortsword technique, almost causing him to wretch with the strike.

But she wasn’t prepared for the counterattack. Ogre’s main strategy hadn’t been to hit her with the punch, but to use that to set up a situation where his superior physical strength would give him the advantage over her agility.

Out of position and with her back facing the giant as she had hoped to slide past, Sera used her wings to create distance, the feathery wings spearing into Ogre’s hand to push her away, which would have worked if he hadn’t just grabbed them instead.

Slammed into the ground as Ogre pulled her down, Sera rolled with the force as she retracted her wings, de-manifesting them to get them out of Ogre’s grip. Jumping backwards, she created distance while distracting the giant with a Burning Blunderbuss attack as she manifested her wings.

While her no wing attack didn’t accomplish much, Ogre had declined to directly chase her, instead choosing to whip up a massive whirlwind with a kick using his Big Seken Kudaija technique, which Sera ended up blocking by manifesting her ninth and tenth wings before putting a multi-layer of barriers to blunt the strike.

Speaking to her opponent once more, Sera noted that while she could appreciate some mid-fight banter, but nevertheless called out Ogre for not taking her seriously. Listening to his response, she first expressed confusion and exasperation on how Ogre could call out almost her exact abilities but still have no idea what her devil fruit was, an expression that quickly turned to anger at his statement he could have ended the fight then and there if he had wanted to.

As Ogre launched himself into another straight punch, Sera made no attempts to dodge or block the strike this time, taking the hit head on, directly to her forehead. Presenting a stoic face, Sera was pushed across the ground, her feet tearing a furrow through the ground as she arrested her momentum, eventually coming to stop along the water’s edge.

Staring Ogre in the eye as a cut at her hairline began bleeding, she commented that her wings didn’t make her tougher, and that would be the only clean hit she’d allow him to land.

Letting her anger get the better of her, Sera went on the offensive for the first time in the fight. Instead of letting Ogre come to her, she charged forth, rapidly speeding up until she was bouncing between panels of light as she encased Ogre in a fiery tornado of light and flame.

Launching on a diatribe of how Ogre wouldn’t get to profit from her effort, Sera danced around him before eventually trying to bring down the giant with one massive axe kick to the back of the neck as she struck him from above with a Burning Labrys, which Ogre was forced to defend against with his own BIG Aegis.

Her strike losing power as it tried to burn through a never-ending wall of regenerating muscle, Sera’s attack was blunted before Ogre’s shrug slid her to the side.

Crossing her arms again, Sera took a dead-center strike from Ogre’s elbow into her crossed arms, launching the angel away at a breakneck pace.

Arresting her momentum by using numerous panels of light to slow herself, Sera launched herself an instant later back into the fray, being unwilling to allow Ogre to create distance now that she was angry.

Striking back at earth-shattering speeds, she aimed low in a flash of light as she attempted to break Ogre’s ankle with a powerful kick, using her Burning Pickaxe to strike back.

As flew in low to take down the giant, Sera was met midway by Ogre’s fist, the giant having upped the power in his Accession technique to increase his speed and power further.

Wrapping herself in her wings to protect herself, Sera was hit hard in the side, the heavy strike slamming her into the ground. Rock and stone shattered at the impact, leaving Sera pushed deep into the earth below, the angel shrouded in a feathery cocoon. Her attack stopped completely, things became still for a moment as Sera was slammed low.

However Sera didn’t stay underground for long as her movement caused the earth to crack further. Golden cracks appeared along the surface of the earth as her wings unfolded underground. Shooting out of the earth an instant later, she looked worse for the air as several of her wings appeared to be broken, albeit this didn’t seem to slow her down at all.

Having pulled up a boulder during her ascent, Sera infused it with a golden aura as she wreathed it in holy light and flame. Exclaiming in anger that Ogre should try this attack on for size, Sera kicked the boulder at high speed at her opponent, aiming to hit him with a Golden Strike.

Gritting her teeth as Ogre handled the attack easily with his Diplomacy technique, Sera noted that for Ogre leaving the ground was a bad idea.

Calling out Ogre’s habit of constantly praising her during the fight, Sera announced that their dance of a fight wasn’t over yet.

Wrapping her wings around her legs while concentrating fire and light upon her feet Sera braced on another panel of light. While Sera almost seemed to be astride two stars, she didn’t allow the gravity of the situation to cause her to hesitate.

Leaping at high speed from the panel, the wall of light shattering in the process, Sera began a chaotic dance while all the world could see was a flash of light. A line of light marked her passage, falling upon Ogre as she began to attempt to bleed him out in a dance of a thousand cuts as she began her Golden Cannon: Dancing Iris.

Sera struck Ogre again and again and again, a cage of light constricting the giant as she bounced from panel to panel with such speed that she was already a few jumps ahead by the time Ogre would hear a panel breaking.

But despite Sera’s efforts to simply out-speed the giant to the point where he could do nothing but take the unlimited strikes, she found herself concerned when Ogre was able to visibly track her still. Upping her speed again and again, there was still a limit in just how much she could amplify the technique before the Giant adjusted.

After countless passes, Ogre made his move. Grabbing the Angel’s leg as she went in for yet another kick, her twisted, pulling Sera around before spiking her into the ground with a combination of her momentum and his own nigh-unfathomable strength. But the Angel had another trick up her seeve as she consumed a handful of her fire an instant before the impact.

Left in a crater once more, Sera lay in the middle of a pile of wings as the light from her legs faded, but the fire in her eyes refused to go out.

Fire began to roil from the angel’s lips as each breath caused it to collect in her hair and wings.

Demanding that Ogre release her, Sera unleashed a new technique, her Bright Cannon. Unleashing a hurricane of flames from her mouth and condensed by her hands, Sera forced Ogre to defend himself as he let go while defending himself with his Big Fujin: Shirohebi Tama technique.

Having created distance, the angel rose from the earth. Where once had stood a refined knight, now stood a much more wild one. Her hair and wings having clad themselves in her burning fire, Sera had been forced to activate her Bright Furnace technique.

Noting internally that while she was currently unable to increase her wing count, she had developed the the technique to sidestep the problem to allow her to unleash far greater amounts of fire and light than she had been able to do previously.

Taking the opportunity to allow her technique to strengthen as Ogre seemed inclined to another pause in the fighting, Sera admitted that she may have misread Ogre, but stated that she wouldn’t disrespect him with another demand for him to retreat or surrender.

Expressing her previous surprise about Ogre not realizing who she was with the number of times that he had referred to her as an angel.

As Ogre noted that she shouldn’t walk the path that she was on, Sera smiled internally as she remembered just how many people thought she needed to be saved from the path of a rogue of the sea. A line of thought that was immediately broken as Ogre sought to upend her mental state with a proposal.

Her guard dropped by the brief lapse in attention, Sera was forced to utilize Busoshoku Haki for the first time this fight to defend herself as Ogre was far too close to attempt to dodge by the time she was able to cross her arms to defend Ogre’s giant slaying lariat.

Taking the impact head on, Sera was pushed back despite her own efforts, a pair of trenches marking her passage as her feet attempted to find sufficient purchase to stop Ogre’s advance.

Noting that the pain from blocking this, even with her Haki, and that the approaching lake bed was going to force her to break this stalemate, Sera spread her wings once more. Lightly taunting Ogre, she unleashed a massive amount of fire that had been accumulating in her wings, aiming to engulf both of them in a massive fiery explosion to break up the clash once more.

While is succeeded in creating distance, Ogre once again came out with only superficial injuries, having protected himself with his Aegis technique.

Sera took up her stance as Ogre Ogre closed the distance once more, jumping out of the light of the sun at a rapid pace while using his Blackened: Yamata No Orochi technique.

Sera took up her stance as Ogre charged, flames billowing from her heel as she spun up a kick up empowered by a storm of roaring fire.

Armored foot slamming into Ogre’s arm, Sera shattered the veteran fighter’s arm through his haki before continuing onward to to complete her strike.

However her plan is foiled when Ogre uses his tongue to wrap around the Angel’s foot, something Sera didn’t expect.

Picked up and thrown to the ground over and over again by Ogre’s attack, Sera was unable to effectively fight back as her concentration got disrupted over and over again by the impact.

Crafting a risky gambit, Sera waited until she was about at the apex of the arc that Ogre was throwing her around in before spreading her wings to briefly slow herself. Striking herself in the stomach, she ended up expelling all of the fire that had been accumulating inside of her body directly on top of Ogre.

Erasing the appendage that had held her from existence, Sera was flung away in the middle of the firestorm that could be seen horizon to horizon. Landing on her feet, her Bright Furnace technique was rapidly disengaging.

Willing her flames to remain around a little bit longer. Sera spoke harshly in response to Ogre’s challenge, noting that he hadn’t noticed that her flames weren’t hot. That they just purify.

Calling her will forth again, her arms took an obsidian sheen once more even as all of the fire that had accumulated across their battlefield was drawn back towards her.

Announcing that she wasn’t going to insult Ogre with another chance to leave, Sera stated that one way or another this fight would end in the next strike.

Sera rushed forward as all the flames began reaching her, she strode forth in a star of burning light. Going faster and faster she sped low before leaping high, aiming to strike down Ogre with a star of holy flame, utilizing her Heavenfall Hammer technique to hopefully finish this for once and for all.

However, a proper ending wasn’t meant to be as Ogre and Sera were both struck by a beam of light, Wicked Jenny using her Cursed Mirror – Blast technique to slow down the both of them before Aries Ovis put the pair of fighters to sleep with his Mofu Mofu Sleep Over Bomb attack.

Taken by surprise, Sera only had time to voice a single word of confusion at why one of her own crew members, Ovis, would act against her like this before she feel into a deep sleep.

Waking up later that day in her bed, Sera was both confused and angry. Lighting up a cigarette once again, the angel quickly strode out of her room and into the middle of Feather Village, grabbing a bucket of water from a crew member who quickly retreated along the way.

Sera walked with purpose down the main road of their village, her various crew members fleeing her path as they realized just how angry she was.

Pausing for a second to look at the message board, she internally recounted the tales of those whose faces adorned. Reflecting on all of her achievements for a moment, she continued her trip.

Kicking down Ovis and Augus’s door, the door to a building that was referred to by her crew as the sleeping hut, she immediately threw a bucket of water at the pair before they began to try to explain what had caused them to act the way they did.

A short while later, Sera was in the tavern of the town when Ogre showed up, the captain sitting at the table with a bottle of scotch. Making small talk for a moment about the Delian Alliance and other things going on in the world, the pair began talking about their respective backgrounds and philosophies. Sera noted that she didn’t believe in fate, preferring to hold people accountable for their own decisions.

Going on a diatribe about how fate didn’t matter, only people did before mentioning that she had a church claiming that she was a prophet every other month.

The conversation went about in this manner for a little while before Sera questioned Ogre about his purpose on the island, eventually finding out it was to set up a fallback base. She noted that something could probably be arranged, but she’d have to run it by her crew first.

it turned to the history of the feather kingdom and the lead up to her self-imposed exile. She explained the system of marriage and competition that had kept the country stable for centuries, and the tensions and arguments that eventually flared up. She spoke of how her father and the previous king of the country had managed to diffuse tensions, and how after her father died they flared back up. She spoke long of the Flower Civil war, and the various different tragedies that had occurred during it. She spoke of the marines intervention and when she fled after all had been lost.

She eventually mentioned that she had found out what had happened to her father after the fact, how he had been poisoned and brought low by Sera’s mother, and how likely her mother had tried to silence her as well, though her angelic physiology had prevented that. Finishing up with the various statistics of what had been lost, she listened to Ogre’s history and how he had ended up as the leader of an army in return.

Shifting topics a bit, she questioned how well the Delian Alliance had managed to stop the various raiding. The alliance could probably stop full invasions, as those took a while, but a raid would be in and out before the other kingdoms could respond. That and she figured considering she had barely heard of the alliance and never heard of Ogre before that their reputations didn’t help much in that regard.

New Members

The Cook

Roleplay: Stowaway

Sera is first seen sitting in her cabin on the Santa De laCruz the ship anchored off of Nademoi Island waiting for the log pose to update. Two members of her crew had entered the cabin to inform their captain of a stowaway, who was currently in the ship’s galley making a pumpkin pie.

Disappointed with her crew-member’s inability to just tell this stowaway to just leave, and or just kicking them off the ship, Sera went downstairs to go do it herself, half-threatening to leave the offending members on the island if their story about not being able to tell the intruder to leave was just them not doing their jobs, though she didn’t seem to actually intend to follow through.

Reaching the galley, she simply asked the intruder, Bara Gabrielle if they really snuck onto the ship just to make pie. Turning down Gabby’s initial offer of a smoke, noting that it doesn’t work on it anyways, Sera tried unsuccessfully to get the woman to leave before joining her in eating a slice of pie, which was pretty good.

Noting that Gabby was a strange one, Sera turned to leave after informing the other woman that the ship would leave in two days.

She got halfway across the room before she realized just how strange this situation was, and that this is not how she’d normally act. She should be much more concerned about everything that going on than she was, yet she just couldn’t feel anything beyond mild confusion.

Questioning if the woman was a Devil Fruit user, Gabby confirmed that she at the Zen Zen no Mi, which calms those around the user.

Sera contemplated this for a moment before deciding that it was probably fine, telling Gabrielle how to find her cabin and where the half-mink could settle down for the night.

As Gabrielle went to leave, Sera internally noted that the other woman was making a bee-line to the captain’s cabin instead of where Sera said to go find a bed at, leaving the angel to question if this was the world telling her that she was just too angry of a person and this was the world’s response.

The Navigator

Roleplay: Re-Derrick-Culous

It was a sunny day on the Island of Jardin as Sera can be seen talking to a local harbormaster. A series of low lying Atolls covered in ports surrounding a rocky center island, the island itself was known as a major source of fish. Sera was here to buy a large amount, having arrived on an armed merchant ship that the Feathers ran known as the Drogheda.

Purchasing nearly seventy tons of fish and preservatives, Sera was working to keep her organization supplied.

Talking to the man for a short while while she was managing the loading of her ship, she eventually found out that there was a storm brewing, and invited Derrick to ride it out with her crew after he warned them about it.

A Meeting

Roleplay: Rising Tides

Sera could be first seen as she stepped off the gangplank of the frigate Cyrene, one of the various ships that the Feathers owned by this point. She had arrived on the island to participate in a ship auction, and had grabbed every crew member she could get her hands on to reach the island in time.

Accompanied by Andre, she noted that the pair needed to find the auction house, and then almost immediately after shot down Andre’s suggestion to buy the lot as the crew did not have the funds available to pick up every ship currently available for auction.

The pair looked at the ships up for sale for a brief period before a gunshot interrupted everyone’s business. A large man had intruded on the auction, claiming to be someone named Lokapal and threatening to unleash his “Tiger Powers” on the island if he wasn’t allowed to sail off with the ships.

Listening to the clamor of people reacting to this new turn of events. Sera was immediately confronted by Andre who was adamant that she shouldn’t try anything.

Promising that she wouldn’t do anything obvious, which mollified Andre for a second before he realized what she said. Sera had sent a tendril of flame underneath the pier, snaking along the planks before slicing the ones that the cloaked figure was about to step on, causing the man to fall through the pier into the waters below.

Smirking at the results of her ploy, Sera and Andre briefly observed teh following confrontation with another stranger, eventually leaving to look at ships.

Eventually talking to what she would later find out was Lokapal, she wound up viewing a ship that was a scaled down replica of some ancient ship known as Skíðblaðnir. Eventually the topic came to the ship itself, where Sera noted that it was a very specialized ship designed for speed, and while if that’s what you needed, the price tag was too exorbitant for most people. Recommending against buying the thing unless it was exactly what he needed to Lokapal, as it was going to sell for a high price anyways and it was too specialized for standard use.

Masquerade

Roleplay: Seafaring Safari

Standing in her suite on her home island of Sad August, Sera could first be seen trying on a disguise. Noting that she was infamous on the seas to the point where people realistically would know her name, she was testing out a disguise that would allow her plan to work without necessarily revealing her identity.

Trading a brief set of barbs with Moon Marlon, a journalist embedded with the crew, the Fishman noted that under this disguise that she went by Maximilian Martina before stating that he thought that this plan was a bad idea.

Sera noted that this plan was born out of necessity. With the fall of the other three Yonko, the Widow had been able to expand more or less unchecked. Even now, with the other nascent Yonko crews building up, she was still generally uncontested.

If Sera was going to fully oppose her, she needed to be slowed down and prevented from expanding further. So she adopted a disguise in an effort to provoke the Widows and the Hunting Pirates into going to war. While it might result in the destruction of the Hunting, it should force the widows to expend their fighting strength and keep the Widows from continuing the expansion until Sera was ready.

Talking to Andre, Sera she asked how long it would take to get to their destination. Andre replied that it would take a week to get to the first island base in a week, then the second three days after before commenting that he wouldn’t ask how Marlon got all the eternal poses necessary for this plan to work.

The trio then left for the Inverness, the ship they would use on their raids to start their operation.

A week later, Sera stood in disguise on top of the base that marked the Hunting Pirate’s base on ??? island. Standing over the beaten and bruised form of Ignis Mortall, a Hunting Pirates three star, Sera had beaten the Magu Ace user in a blitz.

Looking over her people on the base below, she picked up her sword out of the stone it had been impaled before walking around the edge of the building, observing the island below.

Brawlhalla

Roleplay: Lost Cause

First seen having an argument with Andre, Sera stood on the deck of her ship as she listened to Ryusei Remilia’s warning. She listened impassively at Andre’s comment that this was a stupid and reckless plan, to which Sera responded that even her reckless plans usually worked, and to compare them to Andre’s own. She smirked at his response.

Ordering the man to take the ship back over the Horizon, Sera flew off from the ship and began to fly towards the Brawler, aiming to get as close as possible to force the logia user to focus on her and her alone, allowing her ship to get back over the horizon where Remilia couldn’t easily touch it.

Artful Disagreement

Roleplay: Disputed Masterpieces

Sera is first seen leaving her ship as she docked onto the island of Florencia with a large box strapped to her back. Here to take part in the local art festival, she brought along supplies in her efforts to win the contest that was going to be held in this year’s festival. Taking the opportunity to both have a vacation to get away from the stress of managing her growing organization and potentially gain more needed resources, she brought along Churchill Winston and several other members of her crew to the island.

Reminiscing about how this island reminded her of home with the old soldier, she began walking through the crowds at the city’s port.

A short while later she could be seen in the massive crowd in the plaza in front of the King Lorenzo’s castle. Listening to his speech about how they’ll have five days to create a masterpiece for the contest, she commented that it wasn’t a lot of time, politely clapping as the speech finished.

As she turned to leave, she was confronted by another contestant, a man named Leo Wallace. He claimed that there was no point in her entering the competition as he would be the one to win, to which Sera’s only response was to explain that’s not how competition actually works with a smug face.

Expressing deep annoyance at the Widow’s entrance into the Plaza, annoyance that only deepened as she listened to his speech. She noted that Augus was going to be annoyed that she couldn’t keep a low profile on this trip, and that while she wanted to just try and deal with the Widows right now she couldn’t do to the massive crew they were standing in. She didn’t want to risk the collateral damage.

Her annoyance rose until the speech ended, where she shouted above the crowd to ask what the in world a Kokeshi doll was.

Hearing what they were, Sera immediately began to come up with a plan, roping in Leo by convincing him that to help her stop the Widows from trying to dictate his art. Noting that it would be poetic if the Widows were going to replace their artwork with Kokeshi dolls, they should just replace the Widow’s army with them as well.

Telling him to give her a bit to find a warehouse and to figure out the Widow’s patrol routes, she explained her plan to ambush the widow patrols and to just leave kokeshi dolls where they fell to confuse their enemies. She continued by noting that she had been staying one step ahead of the Widows for years now, so this was just normal for her.

Sera was next seen in one of the city’s warehouses, one she presumably convinced the owner to let her use. With her were Winston, Leo, and a missing patrol. Sitting on one of the boxes, she chided Leo as she informed him that there was no need to kill the patrol, as they still had a role to play.

As a member of the patrol began to stir right as she started to iterate her plan, waking up, Sera Used her Haoshoku Haki and steeled the man with her gaze, knocking him back into unconsciousness before continuing.

She noted that if they finished them off and left them, all that would do is get the Widows to lash out. Keeping them missing forced their opponents to dedicate resources to look for them, stretching them out further. This would eventually force them to make a move, which is where the current captured patrol came in.

Shifting the topic a bit, she noted that once Isshin and his crew gets her to fold the kingdom into their empire, the trio lost. They couldn’t currently easily get their ships out of the harbor to avoid this, and they were on a time limit to get out before Isshin arrived. This required them to force a fight. The captured patrols forced the Widows to fight on terms that Sera could dictate, especially since she could use a member of the patrol as a messenger that won’t just be unilaterally killed on sight.

As for why Kokeshi dolls replacing the patrols, she noted she had a nice flower arrangement planned, and since that was out of the window due to the Kokeshi dolls, she just decided to just give them some Kokeshi dolls they wouldn’t like. It added flair and she noted she was still really annoyed at the situation.

Wallace eventually began to leave to return to his lodgings, the pair traded barbs once more for the art contest, as Sera told Leo that he could certainly try after he made his claim that he would defeat her. Noting that the dancing contest was tomorrow, so he should bring his A-game. As if she was going to win, she wanted to beat everyone at there best, there was no point otherwise.

Showing up at the contest the next morning, Sera noted that this competition seemed to be going as expected, though she teased Winston about not knowing how to dance after the older soldier stated he was going to sit this one out. Stating that it was now time to show Leo and everyone else that they just couldn’t keep up, Sera proceeded to walk up to the stage with the other contestants.
