Apple Wallet

Apple Wallet, formerly known as Passbook, is a digital card and identification service developed by Apple; it can be accessed through the Wallet app for iOS, watchOS, and macOS devices with some form of biometric verification, such as Touch ID. Wallet also interacts directly with Apple Card and Apple Pay.

History

Passbook was first announced as a feature of iOS 6 on June 11 at the 2012 Worldwide Developers Conference.[1] It was renamed “Wallet” in iOS 9, which was released on September 16, 2015.[2] Apple Wallet added support for Car Keys for supported vehicles in July 2020.[3]

State IDs

Starting with the release of iOS 15.4 in March 2022, Arizona because the first state in the United States to support digital driver’s licenses or state identification cards through Apple Wallet. It is to be supported by the following states or territories:[4]
