Amazon Germany (amazon.de) is the second-largest Amazon store in Europe (only Amazon UK is bigger), and it’s often the cheapest Amazon store as well. It’s not only popular with shoppers in Germany and other German-speaking countries like Austria and Switzerland, but also from other European countries like Portugal. Amazon.de is so popular internationally that it’s actually available in several languages including English, Dutch, Czech, Polish, and Turkish.

If you’re shopping from outside Germany, the good news is that Amazon Germany delivers internationally. Most of the time, anyway: often it depends on the individual seller, but most sellers are happy to ship within Europe (including to Portugal). Some are happier to ship further afield as well, particularly to countries like the US, Canada, and Australia, and New Zealand.

1-2 day delivery is often available (within Europe)

Amazon Germany offers expedited delivery to many countries within Europe. Taking a pair of Bose 35 noise-cancelling headphones as an example, you can expect the following express delivery times.

  • Portugal: 1 day
  • UK: 1 day
  • Ireland: 2-3 days
  • Spain: 1 day
  • Hungary: 2-3 days
  • Switzerland: 2-3 days
  • Netherlands: 1 day
  • Belgium: 1 day
  • Cyprus: 6-8 days

The headphones in question are in stock and sold by Amazon. Products sold by someone other than Amazon (what’s known as a 3rd party seller) may take longer, and the delivery time depends on the individual seller. Generally speaking, those sold by Amazon have the fastest delivery times.

Free delivery (Prime) is available in some countries

Prime Delivery isn’t just available in Germany, it’s also available in other neighbouring countries like The Netherlands and Belgium. Although Prime Delivery isn’t available in Spain, Portugal, or the UK, the 1-day delivery is fairly inexpensive and typically costs between €5 and €10.

Amazon Germany is available in English

Unlike Amazon Spain, Amazon Germany is actually available in English (read how to change it here). This is great news for international shoppers that don’t speak German.

Some products only ship within Germany

Some products don’t ship internationally. The reasons vary, but often it’s just down to the third party seller and their shipping policies.

If this happens, you may be able to find another seller that stocks the same product (and ships to your country). Otherwise, you might just have to find another product altogether.
