Five Nights at Freddy’s Characters
Five Nights at Freddy’s is created by Scott Cawthon in 2014.
Since then, it has become one of the most well-known games in the world.
The game takes place in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza where the player has to defend themself against animatronics.
The franchise later expanded to spin-off games, fan art, animations, and more.
Along with the four main characters in FNAF 1, there are hundreds of other characters in the FNAF universe.
Here is a list of Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) characters:

1. Freddy Fazbear
Freddy Fazebear is the original antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy’s series.
He is an animatronic bear who entertains children at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza along with Bonnie and Chica.
In addition, he is the lead singer of the band who stands in the center of the stage.
At night, Freddy laughs and plays a song before his jumpscare.
There are multiple variations of Freddy in different FNAF games.
This includes Shadow Freddy, Phantom Freddy, Nightmare Freddy, and many more.
One of the most popular variations of Freddy is Golden Freddy.
Golden Freddy is one of the biggest mysteries in the FNAF series because his origin and goals are unknown.
2. Bonnie
Bonnie is another antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series who is the guitarist of the band.
When Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza opened in 1983, he was the guitarist.
Four years later, he was replaced by his newer counterpart, Toy Bonnie.
Bonnie is known to be active, sadistic, and vindictive during the night.
3. Chica
Chica is another antagonist and a backup singer in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.
She will try to pack any human into a Freddy Fazbear suit.
Chica has a sphere-shaped head with an orange beak, purple eyes, and black eyebrows.
She has a white bib that says “Let’s eat” in yellow letters that are outlined in purple.
Due to her gluttonous behavior, she frequently gets distracted by food.
4. Foxy
Foxy is a discontinued animatronic who entertains children.
Similar to the other animatronics, he will try to stuff any human he says into a Freddy Fazbear suit.
In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, Foxy was replaced by Mangel, his newer counterpart.
He seems to have to sharpest teeth out of all the animatronics as they resemble a canine.
Foxy has multiple variations including Withered Foxy and Captain Foxy.
Withered Foxy is known to be more aggressive than the original Foxy.
5. Toy Animatronics
The Toy Animatronics are the new and improved version of the original animatronics.
This includes Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, and Mangle.
They have an Endo-02 endoskeleton, which is more detailed than Endo-01.
The Toy Animatronics are the main antagonists of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
They will also make an appearance in the other Five Nights at Freddy’s series
6. Balloon Boy
Balloon Boy is another antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 along with the other toy animatronics.
He is a human-like animatronic resembling a toddler that has a propeller hat.
Not much is known about his personality, but he seems shy and cheerful.
He only has a couple of dialogues including “Hi” and “Hello”.
However, he frequently causes trouble for the player and shows no remorse for his actions.
7. JJ
JJ, also known as Balloon Girl, is a hidden animatronic that plays a minor role in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
Her appearance is similar to Balloon Boy—purple eyes with a propeller hat.
JJ is a very mysterious animatronic who frequently hides from the player.
Hence, you won’t really see her often in the game.
In most cases, you’ll only see a close-up version of her face.
8. The Puppet
The Puppet, also known as Marionette, appears in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
It is a long, slender animatronic with a face that looks like a mask.
Out of all animatronics, the Puppet looks the most human-like.
The Puppet was previously an inanimate object until it was possessed by Charlotte Emily.
It’s currently the only animatronic that does not get fooled by Freddy Fazbear’s head.
This suggests that the Puppet is highly intelligent and aware.
9. Shadow Animatronics
The Shadow Animatronics resembles a ghost with an unknown place of origin.
Throughout the series, Shadow Freddy and RWQFSFASXC (Shadow Bonnie) are the only two recurring animatronics.
Shadow Bonnie makes its first appearance in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
If the player stares at it for too long, it will fade away like Golden Freddy.
In Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, Shadow Bonnie appears to be a protagonist who freed the children’s souls.
Shadow Puppet and Shadow BB only appear in a minigame while XOR (a shadow animatronic of Dee Dee) only appears in Ultimate Custom Night (50/20).
10. Phantom Animatronics
Phantom Animatronics haunt the Fazbear’s Fright: The Horror Attraction (the location where Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 took place).
They are the side antagonists in Five Nights at Freddy’s 3.
They appear greenish and charred—foreshadowing the tragic event where Fazbear’s Fright burned down.
Phantom Animatronics will randomly appear in the game.
11. Springlock Hybrids
The Springlock Suits are discontinued machinery that functions as animatronics.
There are two known suits—Fredbear and Spring Bonnie.
They are the mascots for Fredbear’s Family Diner.
Fredbear is often mistaken for Golden Freddy as they look similar.
12. Nightmare Animatronics
Nightmare Animatronics are arguably the scariest out of all the animatronics (before the Twisted Animatronics).
They first appeared in Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 as the main antagonists.
They are heavily-deteriorated animatronics with razor-sharp teeth and metallic eyes.
Currently, it’s not known whether the Nightmare Animatronics are in the FNAF lore.
13. Funtime Animatronics
Appearing in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location as the main antagonists, Funtime Animatronics are advanced models.
They have futuristic models and comprehensive endoskeletons.
They are known to be self-aware due to their optimized AI.
Some of the Funtime Animatronics return in the succeeding FNAF games.
14. Rockstar Animatronics
Rockstar Animatronics first appeared in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator.
They are another set of revamped animatronics.
Players can purchase them from the Smiles and Servos, Inc. Catalog.
In Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery, Lefty is confirmed to return.
