The core version of the American Truck Simulator Game features two playable regions of the US – California (the largest playable area in the Nevada (added for free post-launch, with 10 cities). Throughout the life of this game, many new areas were added via free or premium updates – Arizona (16 cities), New Mexico (14 cities), Oregon (14 cities), Washington (16 cities), and Utah (10 cities).

All the states present in the game are modeled realistically, but with size reduction at the scale of 1:20. Since this game is still under active development, several more expansions were announced for future release, including Idaho and Colorado. As of today, the game features 92 visitable cities, intending to expand it to at least 110. Truck brands that are present in the game include Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, International Trucks, and Mack.
