The 64th edition of The American Express™ 2023 PGA Tour Golf Tournament will bring together top ranked professional golfers including Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler in La Quinta, California, from January 19-22, 2023.

While onsite, golf fans can watch 156 professional golfers and 156 amateurs playing at PGA WEST’s Stadium Course, Nicklaus Tournament Course and La Quinta Country Club from premium hospitality venues. Fans can also tune into the action by watching the Golf Channel and ESPN+.

Since its inception in 1960 as the Palm Springs Golf Classic, the event has donated over $64 million in charitable funds to help support the local Coachella Valley community. This year, the tournament will contribute to organizations committed to improving the lives of the community’s youth, serving those in need by providing food, shelter, clothing, and recovery support to the homeless and impoverished, and creating meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities through development programs, support services, and employment programs.

Scroll down to hear from Finau, Cantlay, Schauffele and Scheffler – who rank among the top 12 golfers in the world – about their views on playing in this year’s tournament.

Tony Finau

Having won several PGA Tour titles including the THE NORTHERN TRUST during the 2021 FedExCup Playoffs, Salt Lake City, Utah, native Finau returns to The American Express™ golf tournament for the sixth year. “I’m thrilled to once again be playing The American Express™! I’m especially excited to see the eight local small businesses featured on-course this year. I think that’s one of the coolest initiatives that Amex supports as a company,” he says.

Patrick Cantlay

A native of Southern California, Cantlay’s golf career includes eight PGA Tour wins including his title as the PGA Tour’s 2021 FedExCup champion. This year, he joins The American Express™  for the third consecutive year, saying “The American Express™ is a great tournament and PGA West Stadium offers a beautiful course. I’m excited to play this year against some of our game’s top players.”

Xander Schauffele

Having earned several titles throughout his years of playing in the PGA Tour, Schauffele is returning to The American Express™ after a five-year hiatus. The La Jolla, California, native says, “I’m excited to be back at the American Express™. This is my first time playing since 2017, and I’ve heard amazing things about the course, the hospitality, and all the Coachella Valley event has to offer.”

Scottie Scheffler

Masters champion and the PGA Tour’s 2021-22 Player of the Year, Scheffler, a Long Beach, California native, says “This is my fourth consecutive time playing The American Express™, and the tournament gets better every year. They treat the players great, the courses are in pristine condition, and playing in the desert is always a great way to get the new season started.”
