The given pie charts depict the percentage of British pupils from an England university who
can speak different types of foreign languages other than English language in 2000 and
2010.

It is clear that excepting for spanish, german and french language, the rest categories
showed an upward trend. Moreover, the rate of those who speak only their mother language
was by far accounting for the greatest.

30% was the percentage of students who are not able to speak another language in 2000
until 2010 this figure witnessed a slight increase to 35%. Additionally, in 2010 the proportion
of students who can speak another language was 20%, second to those who speak native
language, whereas those who mastered two other languages merely accounted for one-
tenth. During a period of 10 years, a minimal rise was shown in the ratio of those who are
fluent in other languages and two other languages , going up from 10% and 15% in 2000 to
15% and 20% in 2010, respectively.

There was a slow decline in the percentage of students who were capable of speaking
French and Spanish only , decreasing from 20% and 15% in 2000 to 10% in 2010.
Moreover, those who speak German only maintained the same level at 10% throughout the
period surveyed.

Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that

the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement.

To what extent do you think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste?
