World’s Longest Car ‘The American Dream’ Breaks Its Own Record At Over 100Ft Long
This is going to be quite a ride! The world’s longest car, a super limousine, has been restored to its former glory and has just gone on to break its own Guinness world record
for previously being the longest car.
The limousine called ‘The American Dream’ is back and longer than ever. The length of this restored vehicle is 30.54 meters (100 ft and 1.50 in) as it breaks its 1986 record title by a small margin.
The super limousine was originally built in 1986 by famed car customizer Jay Ohrberg and measured 60ft long. He then extended the vehicle to 100ft long and bagged the crown for the longest car in the Guinness World Records.
Could it get any better? Absolutely, yes!. Cue a helipad, a swimming pool, a hot tub, a putting green and a large waterbed.
To put its size into perspective, most cars measure between 12 to 16 feet (3.6 to 4.2 meters).
The restoration included a full-body rework, an interior makeover, an engine rebuild, and upgrades to the swimming pool, mini-golf course, and jacuzzi. According to Guinness World Records, the restoration – including shipping – cost around $250,000 to complete.
“When I found the car, it was in very poor condition. I’d say on a scale of one to 10 it was minus one,” Michael Manning, one of the people involved in the restoration, told Guinness World Records.
“It was garbage. It was covered in graffiti, the windows were broken, the tires were flat, but I fell in love with it anyway. I said, I’m going to get this car and I’m going to bring it back and restore it,” Manning explained.
Although he was hit by budget constraints, he was on a mission to find a new home for the iconic car and wasn’t going to let it pass.
After listing the car on eBay, it was then bought in 2019 by Michael Dezer, owner of the Dezerland Park Car Museum and Tourist Attractions in Orlando, Florida, where the multi-wheeled-wonder now sits.
“You really couldn’t put it on the road because it’s too long,” Manning said. “It was built to be put on display.”
