‘Shelby American: The Carroll Shelby Story’
Filmgoers may recognize the name Carroll Shelby from the Oscar-nominated film “Ford v Ferrari” and Matt Damon’s portrayal of the automotive visionary behind the Ford GT40, the endurance race car that dethroned the dominant Ferrari racing team in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Car enthusiasts know there’s a lot more to the story of how a one-time oil roughneck and failed chicken farmer became one of the most successful race-car drivers in history, eventually creating some of the most iconic autos in American history. The film from director Nate Adams, co-produced by Adam Carolla, provides an entertaining and insightful look under the hood of a trailblazing American icon.
After the film: Detroit Free Press automotive reporter Phoebe Wall Howard talks to director Nathan Adams.
