The dealer markup on this 2016 BMW M4 GTS is more than the cost of a new M3

The 2016 BMW M4 GTS is much, much more than an aero kit -- the track-ready, street-legal super-coupe gets a big performance boost courtesy of its water-injected 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six.

The 2016 BMW M4 GTS is about as close as you can get to driving a BMW race car away from a dealer’s showroom. The water-injected and turbocharged 3.0-liter I6 sends 493 hp and 442 lb-ft of twist to the rear wheels. That brings the 0-60 time down to a scant 3.7 seconds. Add to that a boy racer-spec rear wing, an adjustable coil-over suspension and a roll bar and you’ll have a serious-looking Bimmer coupe.

You’ll also need to throw down a ton of money to get your name on the title of one of these track monsters. Imgur user shadster911 spotted one of these at a BMW dealer and took a shot of the window sticker. With an MSRP of $134,200, this BMW is kind of a bargain, considering it’s ready to set solid lap times out of the box and it’s a limited-production vehicle.

The 75 percent worth of market adjustment brings the price of this BMW M4 GTS to $252K.pinterest icon

If you take a look at the window sticker above, you’ll see a small note about market adjustment. For those out of the new-car-buying loop, that’s a contemporary way of saying “dealer markup,” and this BMW has been marked up — er, market-adjusted — shamelessly.

If that $134K price tag was too affordable, don’t worry: With $18K worth of carbon-fiber wheels and $100K of markup, this BMW now sets you back $252K (before fees).

Maybe this Bimmer dealer liked the car so much that he wanted to keep it around?
