The White House

Centuries ago, two shoemakers from Ireland boarded a ship to America with faith in an uncertain future.

In all their dreams, I’m not sure they could’ve imagined their two great-great-grandsons would be sworn in as United States Presidents.

That’s the promise of hope.

Last night, I had a chance to call Ralph Yarl and his family.

No parent should have to worry that their kid will be shot after ringing the wrong doorbell. We’ve got to keep up the fight against gun violence.

And Ralph, we’ll see you in the Oval once you feel better.

My Administration is building a cleaner future with our proposed vehicle pollution standards.

They would save Americans money, strengthen energy security, and establish our nation as a clean transportation leader.

Not to mention, we would cut nearly 10 billion tons of CO2 emissions.

Wounded Warrior Riders come from every corner of our nation, cut from the same cloth, and bound by a common sense of duty, honor, resilience, courage, and optimism.

You are America.

And you’ve got the support of a grateful nation – and President – behind you, always.
