We originally tested the Asgard Chelsea boot to see how well these sub-$50 boots compared to $150 boots from Hunter. The Asgard boots surprised us with their neat styling and effective waterproofing for shallow puddles and light rain. Though hardly built to last forever, if you want the cutest women’s rain boots, these are a good choice that won’t cost you a ton.

The main differences we observed when compared to pricier alternatives was the look and feel—they are just a bit more muted and there’s more glue holding things together than stitching. That likely means they won’t hold up forever, but at this price, you could go through two or three before paying the same amount as other brands.

As a “Chelsea”-style boot, these have just a short shaft of 5.5-inches, dipping down slightly on the elastic part of the cuff. That makes them easy to take on and off, but gives you only a little bit of depth where the waterproofing is truly effective. Size-wise, these cover a huge range, from women’s 4-12 (standard width) depending on the color you choose, though no half-sizes.
