Objectives:
To calculate the percentage of hypertensive outpatient with health insurance getting proper knowledge, attitude and practice in controlling their hypertension as well as to determine the relation between knowledge, attitude and practice in managing hypertension through changing lifestyle.
Subjects:
All hypertension patients from the age of 25 and over with outpatient treatment at health insurance department of District 3 hospital.
Method:
cross-section survey. Research was carried out on hypertensive outpatient over 25 year-old at district 3 hospital from June to July, 2009
Results:
The percentage of patient getting the proper knowledge about salty eating risks of hypertension overwhelm One of risks of hypertension which the highest percentage of patients get proper knowledge is salty eating, following ones are obesity and drinking. The percentage of patient has positive attitude towards weight reduction by 96.02%, reducing salt in the diet by 95.94% and discontinuing alcohol consumption by 88.84%. The percentage of patient has proper practice in mangaging hypertesion through the following the lifestyle changes: weight reduction by 60%, reducing sodium in the diet by 80% and discontinuing alcohol consumption by 74%.
Connclusion
: there has a correlation between the patients’ practice and attitude of reducing salt in the diet by age groups, disease period as well as the doctor’s advice.
