Spinach Apple Orange Juice
Hello friends, I have been mia lately and I apologize for not posting for a week!
I decided this week to go on a full detox and for the rest of the March, Breakfast and Dinner juices and salads will be my best friend.
I really believe that my body needs it, screams for a good clean up especially now before Springtime. Like every house, Spring cleaning is a must, the same goes for our body too.
Do not worry that will not affect my active posting here, because all the dishes I’ve tried many times that I can make them blindfolded, so I will still post delicious, comforting meals.
Of course, my family has to eat so naturally cooking is a part of my daily routine. Although once you start any diet change it is extremely hard when you have kids.
Too many temptations, but I already as of today put my foot down because my body, mind, and soul need to heal. Honestly, I started to have often and stronger headaches, stomachaches, and so weak that I really did not want to get out of the bed.
However, as far as I remember my last full detox was so successful that I felt light as a bird, full of energy and my MOOD…you cannot even believe it how that changes in just a few days.
Well, of course, every change gonna make you moody in the beginning, like 2-3 days until your body adjusts. Trust me, I have been there and I still am due to recent illness and viruses that left me so weak and in a way depressed that this is really what I need!
SPINACH:
One cup of spinach has nearly 20% of the RDA of dietary fiber, which aids in digestion, prevents constipation, maintains low blood sugar, and curbs overeating.
Spinach has been shown to slow down cell division in human stomach and skin cancer cells.
Anti-Inflammatory & Antioxidants
Neoxanthin and violaxanthin are two anti-inflammatories that play an important role in the regulation of inflammation and are present in unusual amounts in spinach.
The vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, manganese, zinc, and selenium present in spinach all serve as powerful antioxidants that combat the onset of osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and high blood pressure.
Immunity:
One cup of spinach contains over 337% of the RDA of vitamin A that not only protects and strengthens “entry points” into the human body, such as mucous membranes, respiratory, urinary and intestinal tracts but is also a key component of lymphocytes (or white blood cells) that fight infection.
Skin: The high amount of vitamin A in spinach also promotes healthy skin by allowing for proper moisture retention in the epidermis, thus fighting psoriasis, keratinization, acne and even wrinkles.
Calcification, Brain and Nervous Function
Vitamin K is a crucial component of the process called carboxylation, which produces the matrix Gla protein that directly prevents calcium from forming in tissue.
Eating one cup of spinach contributes to this process that fights atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.
Vitamin K in spinach contributes greatly to a healthy nervous system and brain function by providing an essential part for the synthesis of sphingolipids.
On top of all, it protects your eyes, bones, and spinach have been shown to effectively lower blood pressure.
