SQL Server 2012 Express edition installation error! – SQLServerCentral Forums

Hello,
I’m urgently trying to install SQL server express onto my Windows 7 laptop (x64) but keep receiving the setup error detailed at the end of this post.

Things I’ve tried:
* I previously had SQL Server 2014 Express on my laptop but uninstalled it a few months ago. I’ve gone through and removed & uninstalled anything to do with SQL Server, though I’m wary that this doesn’t mean it’s gone-gone, but I didn’t think this would prevent an install of 2012 ex.
* Repair VC++ Redistributable. Then tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Version on my laptop is 2010 if that matters.
* On the advice of a friend I tried reverting the .NET framework back to 3.5

The above hasn’t changed the nature of the error message unfortunately.

Does anyone have any ideas? I’m pretty desperate!
