Can someone explain to me what the benefit of Express or Custom accounts are over Standard. The only real benefit I see is with Custom accounts Stripe can become a transparent backend your users do not see.

But the cons of Express and Custom accounts imo are big. Extra fees $2/user/month plus payout fees. And you are responsible for fraud. Whereas Standard accounts have no other fees and Stripe is responsible for fraud.

Those seems like hefty doen sides to Express or Custom accounts there must be some benefit I’m missing right? Stripe is suggesting since I’m developing a marketplace I should use Express or Custom accounts but I’m really not too keen on taking on the responsibility for fraud or to have to pay the extra fees.

The only real feature I can find missing from Standard accounts is the ability to have full control on when payouts occur which could be useful to intentionally delay payouts in case of buyer complaints but not strictly necessary and IMO not worth thr cost or headache of being on the hook for fraud.
