Mitsubishi Triton 2019 pricing and specs confirmed
Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has increased pricing for a number of variants in its recently updated Triton pick-up range, which will land in local showrooms in early January.
While the engines remain largely unchanged with the update, Mitsubishi has treated the Triton to a significant exterior facelift, increased safety, revised suspension and a handful of new interior features.
Moreover, the Triton pick-up will come with a seven-year/150,000km warranty from launch until the end of the financial year.
Single Cab Triton variants retain their pricing from the current range, starting at $22,490 plus on-road costs in 4×2 GLX petrol guise with a manual gearbox, up to $35,490 for the 4×4 GLX diesel with a self shifter.
The three Club Cab variants have increased in price, with the GLX manual up $200, and the GLX automatic and GLX+ automatic both upped $1000 to $38,790 and $40,490 respectively.
Meanwhile, Dual Cab pricing has increased by $500 for the entry-level GLX, $1500 for the GLX+, $2000 for the GLS and $3000 for the GLS Premium, which replaces the Exceed.
Mitsubishi has also added a new ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist System) grade to some GLX variants, which adds forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, an auto-dimming mirror, front foglights, dusk-sensing headlights and rain-sensing wipers.
ADAS adds $800 to the asking price of the GLX, and is mandatory on the 4×2 Dual Cab auto, 4×4 Club Cab auto and 4×4 Dual Cab cab chassis auto, however it comes as an option for the 4×4 Dual Cab.
The Triton has been given a more aggressive look for 2019, most notably it now sports Mitsubishi’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ front-end design, and a raised bonnet height.

While it retains its double wishbone front and leaf spring rear suspension from the current model, Mitsubishi has revised its calibration for improved “comfort on paved surface and directional stability on unmade roads”.
Mitsubishi also says ride comfort will be improved due to the use of larger rear dampers containing more oil.
Automatic Triton variants gain a new six-speed transmission, however the five-speed manual carries over, as does the 133kW 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine and the 94kW/194Nm 2.4-litre petrol unit.
Due to revised gearing and aerodynamics, the new Triton uses more diesel. Specifically, dual-cab variants sip 7.9 litres per 100 km, up from 7.2L, and the auto is up from 7.6L to 8.6L/100km.
Fuel use for the petrol-powered base single-cab is up, too, from 10.9L to 11.4L per 100 kilometres.
As well as the ADAS option for higher-end variants, safety in the Triton is improved thanks to a blind spot warning system, rear cross-traffic alert, a rear view camera, hill start assist, trailer stability assist, a speed limiter and seven airbags.
On the inside, the updated Triton is fitted with a USB charging socket, a new multi-information display, a rear air circulator which delivers air to the rear cabin, an immobiliser and keyless entry/stop/start.
On the inside, the Triton scores either a 6.1- or 7.0-inch multimedia screen.
Depending on the grade, the new Japanese pick-up sports either a 6.1- or 7.0-inch multimedia display with Bluetooth connectivity and DAB radio.
Units equipped with the 7.0-incher also benefit from Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
