Hi I’m able to continue up until step 4. I repeatedly tap F9 button but says: “Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key”
So, it’s not allowing me to enter the Windows Recovery Menu
What should I do next?
Waiting for a reply
Thanks

If that is not working, try this:
- Select the Security menu in the Aptio setup utility, select ‘secure Boot Control’ and change to disable.
- Select the Boot menu in the Aptio setup utility, select ‘Launch CSM’ and change to enable.
- Select Save & Exit and press ‘yes’.
- Hold down the power button until the unit switches power off completely.
- Switch back on and continually hold FN + F9 for about ten seconds; this should now allow the unit to boot up into the Windows Recovery menu.
- Select ‘Advanced Start Up’ and wait until the recovery menu appears.
- Select ‘ Advanced Options’.
- Select ‘System Restore’ and select a date prior to when the problem occurred

HI so I tried your instructions but I just get a black screen saying “reboot and select proper boot drive or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key” instead start up menu. Suggestion
MY CURRENT PROBLEM 10/13/2029
I’ve had the same problems as indicated above with an Asus Model X555UA & applied the instructions indicated above. These instructions got me out of the Aptio Setup Utility – Copyright 2019 American Megatrends, Inc. Version2.17.1259 after step #3 &
unable to proceed further with these instructions leaving the notebook trapped in the black “Reboot & Select proper boot device or insert proper boot media in selected boot device & select any key” screen without any apparent way out of it.
Previous instructions at
as a valid choice.
My problems started when I plugged in & turned on the notebook while waiting to board a flight & it immediately went into a major Windows 10 UpDate with no way to stop it, except to shut it down. After 45 minutes I had to board my flight with the
UpDate only about 17% complete. I have the notebook set to keep running when I close the cover. I then unplugged it (with the battery 100% charged) & boarded the plane. When I opened it on the plane, I found that it was stuck in the Aptio Setup Utility – Copyright
2019 American Megatrends, Inc. Version2.17.1259.
When I got to my destination, I managed to get out of Aptio, but the computer would crash & go back into Aptio upon startup or would freeze-up @ login. I was able to reboot after several attempts, but it would crash & I would get the ErrorCode: Critical
Process Died. After dealing with this, I opened “Update History” to see if the W-10 Update had completed. It hadn’t. So I went to the UpDate function in the Start Menu & except for the Title, that page was completely blank. The UpDate History
showed that over the past 3 months other automatic UpDates had been attempted & not completed, with no notification to me. Although, during that time I had seen updates being processed & “completed” at startup & shutdown, without any notification that there
had been any problems or that the UpDates hadn’t been completed.
Later, I was able to start the notebook, login, & find the UpDate Page working. I started a new UpDate. After about 3 hours of updating, & only about 40% complete, I had to move the notebook. But this time, I unplugged it (with the battery 100% charged)
without closing the cover & immediately the screen changed to the “ErrorCode: Critical Process Died” & then the Aptio Setup appeared again.
At this point, I found the solutions from “Asus Laptop Stuck in Aptio Setup Utility”, that are copied above from the MS webpage that I followed, that now have left me stuck in the black “Reboot & select proper boot drive or insert proper boot media
in selected boot device & select any key” without any apparent way out of it. Rebooting just repeats the instructions. Restarting & “Ctrl, Alt, Delete” only reopens the same black screen. Please, is there any way to get out of this?
