The entrance to Hogwarts Express – King’s Cross Station is located in the London Waterfront Area of Universal Studios Florida, just outside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.
Hogwarts Express – King’s Cross Station Ride Description
There is only one Hogwarts Express train but there are two different ride experiences: one that involves departing from Hogsmeade Station in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade and another that involves departing from King’s Cross Station in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. Both rides offer a different experience – so you shouldn’t skip one just because you’ve done the other.
Guests access King’s Cross Station from the London Waterfront rather than Diagon Alley itself. You’ll walk through a queue that looks remarkably like a train station – keep your eye out for Harry Potter’s white owl, Hedwig – he’s nestled amidst a pile of luggage.
The Hogwarts Express has three train cars, each with seven compartments. Up to ten people can be seated in each compartment according to the capacity signs, but the team members usually seat only eight people per car. This is a good thing, because eight makes the compartment feel crowded unless everyone seated with you is either thin or child-sized.
Once the train starts moving, you’ll want to keep your eyes on the frosted glass doors and the train windows because you see quite a few different projected images throughout the experience. The train ride lasts less than 10 minutes. When you exit the compartment, you’ll be in Hogsmeade Station in Islands of Adventure.
Hogwarts Express – King’s Cross Station Ride History
Hogwarts Express – King’s Cross Station officially opened in July 2014 along with the rest of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. Construction began in 2012 after the demolition of the Jaws ride, which once occupied the space now belonging to King’s Cross Station.
