Even the Crew of American Horror Story: Hotel Thinks All the Actors Look the Same

When Vanity Fair published an item earlier this summer about the handsome brunette men of American Horror Story: Hotel, we put together the composite photo above of Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Max Greenfield, and Cheyenne Jackson hoping to highlight the similarity between the square-jawed, attractive men. Was it Ryan Murphy who has such an obvious type, or Lady Gaga’s character, the Countess? The photo since went viral and has even become a joke on the set of the FX horror series.

“People are aware. Once that picture of all five of us hit the Internet, it just became a thing,“ Cheyenne Jackson told Vulture. “I was sitting with Wes the other day, and I’m like, ‘What do you think that’s all about?‘ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’m sure they are going to explain it.‘” As we pointed out in the original article, even the usually blond Evan Peters has gone brunette this season.

Jackson went on to say that it’s not just the Internet that gets the men of American Horror Story confused. “I remember my second day on set, one of the [assistant directors] was like, ‘Here, can you sign out here, Finn?,’” Jackson said. “And I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m not Finn.’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry, Matt.’ And I’m like, ‘Nope. It’s Cheyenne, actually.’”

Whether or not the mystery of the brunette leading men is ever solved on American Horror Story: Hotel, Jackson isn’t too concerned. “There are worse things,” he joked, “than to be compared to Matt Bomer.”
