How Long Do Colibri Real Estate Courses Take?
Your timeline depends on which package you choose and how many classroom hours your state mandates.
For example, in Michigan, you’re required to put in 40 classroom hours before taking your state licensure exam but in Texas, you need to complete 180 course hours.

With exam preparation, the majority of students need about two months to complete most programs. However, if you have more free time to devote, you might sail through even the lengthiest of courses in just a couple of weeks.
Course Formats
Colibri Real Estate offers a wide range of course offerings in most states, which is one of their strongest advantages. From affordable bare-bones basics to dynamic livestream classes, there’s something for everyone and every budget.
The Basics
The least expensive option, the Basics is the perfect course for a self-starter. This package includes your prelicensing courses, state-approved instructor support, and three e-books.
Exam Preparation
This package includes all the benefits of the Basic Package, plus Exam Prep materials like practice tests and flashcards. The Exam Preparation package is also the first tier that includes their Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee.
Exam Preparation Plus
Exam Preparation Plus includes everything from the first two packages, plus the helpful Exam Cram Video and Webinar, a real estate dictionary, and 40 hours of instructor Q&A time.
Ultimate Learning
Ultimate Learning gives you all of the offerings of the previous package, plus a printed copy of the textbook and a one-year professional development membership.
Colibri Real Estate Livestream Packages
With the Livestream option, choose from four different weekday or weekend schedules. You also receive your textbooks, instructor support, practice exams, real estate dictionary, Exam Cram video plus webinar, and the Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee.
Close Insider Tip: If possible, we recommend choosing a package that includes the 40 hours a month of live Q&A support from an instructor. Having these hours of direct question and answer often results in a deeper understanding of complicated real estate topics. Support options like these will be critical to your success, especially for students who are new to the online learning environment.
Colibri Real Estate Pass Rates
Not every state publishes pass rates broken down by education provider, but according to the Texas Real Estate Commission, for the combined years 2020-2022, the Colibri Real Estate pass rate was 58.56%. For comparison, the Kaplan Real Estate student pass rate was 67% and The CE Shop rate was 69%. While some sites list the Colibri Real Estate national exam pass rate as 78%, we’re unable to verify it.
Customer Service & Student Support
We found signing up to be relatively easy, but if you do need customer or technical support, there are several options. You can call during working hours (Central Time), use the chat option, email, or text. When we placed a customer service call, it was answered promptly and professionally.
As far as student support, there’s a separate phone number for students who are already enrolled. If you have questions about the content or curriculum, you’ll have access to qualified instructors through email. Your instructor will respond within one business day.
Is Colibri Real Estate Accredited?
If Colibri Real Estate offers courses in your state, their courses have been approved by the state governing board and are fully accredited.
The Colibri Real Estate Student Experience
Here, we walk through the actual student experience and explore the Colibri Real Estate interface.
Signing Up & Logging In
The sign-up process for Colibri Real Estate couldn’t be easier. I chose my package, provided some personal information, and selected my payment method. All in all, the process took less than 10 minutes, including verifying my email address, completing the course agreements, and reading the terms of service.
Opening Your Course
After completing my sign-up, I arrived at my course dashboard. Here’s where I can dive into course material, check out the course documents, and access the class discussion board. I can also view any notes I take during classes.
Note that your exam prep options won’t be unlocked until you complete your requisite number of course hours.
Overall, my impressions were positive. The dashboard is easy to understand, simple to navigate, and it gets you where you need to go. It’s a clean user interface without too many bells and whistles.
Starting Your First Class
After selecting “Open Course,” Colibri Real Estate took me to the first page of the first chapter of my Michigan prelicense course. Right away, I noticed the screen is very text-heavy.
Pro Tip: With this amount of digital text, you’ll need to take regular breaks to rest your eyes and keep your mind sharp.
You can easily navigate through the course with the buttons on the bottom right corner and track your progress with the progress bar on the bottom left—ideal for long chapters.
Progressing Through Your Colibri Real Estate Course
Working through the first chapter of the course is pretty straightforward. Most of the slides are primarily text, some images, and lots of bulleted lists. As an independent learner, especially one with some experience in the real estate industry, I found the format easy to consume.
While the information on the slides was clear and well-written, it lacked a clear emphasis. For someone with no experience in the industry, it might be hard to distinguish the most important details from information provided for context.
Taking Your First Quiz
I made it to the Chapter 1 / Unit 1 multiple choice quiz after a bit of work. The quiz questions are easy to understand and pulled directly from the materials in the unit that I had just completed.
I received immediate feedback on the questions I got right and wrong. From there I could review the sections where I need more work before retaking the quiz. One must get 80% correct to pass a unit quiz and move on to the next section.
Wrapping Up for the Day
When I decided to wrap up and call it a day, saving my progress was easy. You simply select the “Close” button in the top right corner of your display, which automatically saves your progress in the course and takes you back to the course dashboard. The progress bar shows the advancement in my progress.
Room for Improvement
We’re big fans of Colibri Real Estate and believe it’s a strong option for many real estate students. We have, however, identified some areas where we think Colibri Real Estate could improve.
Not Mobile-friendly
Technically, you can take your real estate classes on your mobile device, but that doesn’t mean that it’s easy or optimal, especially with such text-heavy format. As more and more students want to take their classes on-the-go, we’d like to see Colibri Real Estate improve their interface to make it more mobile-friendly.
Lots of Reading Requires Lots of Self-motivation
While we think the quality of information is top-notch, the delivery could use some work. Each course is extremely text-heavy and requires serious self-motivation and the ability to consume a heavy reading load. That may work for some students, but we hope Colibri Real Estate will continue to innovate as they develop new content and update old courses.
Final Verdict on the Colibri Real Estate Student Experience
Based on a thorough Colibri Real Estate review, we believe the platform definitely lives up to the hype. Colibri Real Estate provides comprehensive courses that are widely available at affordable prices. Their Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee adds to the many reasons I recommend this product and why I’ve chosen Colibri Real Estate as the Best Real Estate School of 2022.
