Check your iCloud storage on any device

You may see the following categories in the storage indicator:

  • Backups: iCloud backups of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. See What is iCloud Backup?

  • Family: The amount of storage used by family members if you share an iCloud+ subscription with your Family Sharing group. See Use iCloud+ with your family.

  • Messages: Messages you send and receive using iMessage and any attachments. See Keep your messages up to date with iCloud.

  • Photos and Videos (or Photos): Photos and videos stored in iCloud Photos. See Share photos and videos and keep them up to date with iCloud.

  • Documents (or Docs): Files and information stored in iCloud Drive, as well as data from other apps that aren’t listed above—for example, Notes, Reminders, Health, and third-party apps. To learn about apps that can store information in iCloud, see Apps and features that use iCloud.

  • Others: You may see Others on a device with a smaller screen because there’s not enough room to list all categories. Usually, your three largest storage categories show their accurate category names and the rest of your categories are grouped into Others.
