of BAT Vietnam are the foundation of the firm’s strategy, which

and one that makes employees feel valued. The strategy plans to
build and elevate future-fit talent by focusing on enhancing the
functional and leadership capabilities of employees and help them
realise their full potential. BAT Vietnam does this by providing

and through the internally curated and delivered learning and
development portfolio across all grades. BAT Vietnam’s 3-year
strategy to re-engage, re-energise, and re-align the organisation
for the future will support the firm’s transformation journey and
ensure their success through a strong and sustainable talent
pipeline, engaged and empowered culture, and strong internal
and external employer brand.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

The 3-year strategy is divided into phases that include Reset,
Build and Accelerate, Consolidate, which successes through
three focus areas. The first one is to build a strong and sustainable
talent pipeline. This stage includes identifying the necessity of
capabilities for the future, as same as determining key talent
across all functions. Additionally, mentoring and coaching are
emphasised in the development journey of BAT’s leaders at all
levels. The next focus is to facilitate an engaged and empowered
culture by developing the next generation of leaders, valuing the
diversity of their employees, and creating an engaging culture
where individuals and teams can be successful. The way the
people of BAT Vietnam are embodied in BAT Ethos – Bold, Fast,
Empowered, Diverse, Responsible – guides the firm to deliver
their strategy. The last focus area of the firm’s strategy is creating
a strong employer brand.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

The company has been listed in the Top 100 Best Places to
Work in Vietnam by Anphabe since 2014, named one of the Best
Places to Work in Asia by HR Asia (2020), and Top Employer by
Top Employer Organization (2019 and 2020). They also received
positive feedback from employees on local trainings (more than
5,300 training hours have been delivered to date).

The company communicates with their employees via various
platforms such as email channels (Corporate Communication
Channel and Talent mailbox channel), monthly Watzup (companywide
Townhall meeting), different events throughout the
year, and Yammer. Furthermore, the company supports their
employees’ career development and provides an environment
for employees to make an impact by offering them a variety of
rewards and recognition (Long Service Award, Star Award, Merit
Award, GM Award).

FUTURE DIRECTION

BAT Vietnam will consolidate their strategy in the future by
providing new leadership capabilities and continue to offer more
distinctive training sessions. These plans are embodied in the
journey of building a strong and sustainable talent pipeline, and
the firms also plan to main 90% retention of key talent. According
to the company’s strategic development, the firm will continue
to support employees by creating an engaged and empowered
culture with a focus on reaching the Diversity and Inclusion target.
The firm aims to have 46% female diversity in management
grades. To achieve this, BAT Vietnam plans to develop a strong
consciousness about Diversity and Inclusion among their
employees through training, leadership sharing sessions, social
media campaign, and also ensure a 50/50 candidate flow during
recruitment.
