    Amazon Fire tablets explained

If you’ve decided on getting an Amazon Fire tablet, the question becomes which one you should get. There are several different options, and it can be a little overwhelming looking at them all.

The ones that you’ll probably be considering are the Fire HD 10, Fire HD 8, and Fire 7, and also whether you want a Kids version of the tablet.

The two Fire tablets that we’d suggest for general use are the Fire HD 10 and the Fire HD 8. The Fire HD 10 has a larger 10.1-inch screen, which is great if you’re the sort of person who plans to watch TV shows and movies on it.

If you want to invest even further in your Fire tablet experience, the pricier Fire HD 10 Plus has extra RAM (4GB instead of 3GB), plus wireless charging.

On the other hand, the Fire HD 8 is the value option. While it’s a slight downgrade on the Fire HD 10 (especially when considering their respective screen sizes), the 8 was updated in 2022, which means it has had a spec boost and now lasts for longer.

Like the 10, the 8 also has a Plus variant. The Fire HD 8 Plus comes with more RAM (3GB instead of 2GB) and wireless charging – though it only comes in one colour. If you’re looking for more colour options, then the Fire HD 8 comes in Black, Rose and Denim.

The Fire 7, also updated in 2022, is the most budget option, coming in a range of different colours and usually priced at £74.99 for the smallest storage option.

Of course, you just have to acknowledge that the specs and the screen aren’t as good as the Fire HD 10 or 8. However, if you’re happy to make those compromises in exchange for a low price, then it’s one to think about.

The Kids range of tablets come with padding to better protect the tablet. You can get Kids and Kids Pro versions of the Fire HD 10, Fire HD 8, and Fire 7.

The difference between Kids and Kids Pro? Kids Pro tablets are geared towards older children, with a different design and access to request apps from a Kids digital store, which parents can approve.
