Market introduction

The BMW X8 is a rumoured halo four-door coupe SUV from the Bavarian car manufacturer. Considering BMW already offers a feature-rich ultra-luxurious SUV in the form of the X7, the X8 could be the more ‘sporty’, stylish and driver-oriented. The X8 is expected to be revealed internationally sometime in 2022, and is expected to be launched in India soon after.

Design

The X8 is expected to borrow most of its stylish cues from the X7, excluding the roof line of course. The large grille, slim headlights and taillights could be carried over but more muscle could be added to the design with sculpted rear haunches and the flowing roofline meeting a raised bootlid. As is the case with the X6 and the X4, the X8 is more about style statement and dynamics than practicality, the rear seats will not be as useful as the X7 because of the aggressively sloping roofline.

Engine 

The X8 could also provide the perfect platform for a performance-oriented ‘M’ variant, which the X7 has not received as its size and positioning doesn’t gel well with the sporty-nature of M cars. The X8 M could use the same 4.4-litre, V8 used under the hood of the recently launched M8 Coupe with power and torque bumped up from the existing 591bhp/750Nm.
