BMW S 1000 R Specs & Photos – 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

In 2014, BMW Motorrad began to manufacture the BMW S 1000 R, a naked motorcycle that borrowed its engine, gearbox, frame, and suspension from the S 1000 RR superbike. In 2020 BMW released the new model in the S 1000 R range.

In terms of hardware, the new 2020 BMW S 1000 RR has a 999cc inline four-cylinder, oil-water cooled engine, that develops 165 hp (123 kW) at 11,000 rpm, and a torque of 114 Nm (84 lb-ft) at 9,250 rpm. It is also lighter than the RR by five kg (11 lbs). The new S 1000 R weighs 199 kg (439 lbs) and reaches an estimated top speed of 257 kph (160 mph). Also, the new 1000 R can reach 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in just 3.2 seconds.

For the first time as an optional extra, BMW equipped the S 1000 R with electronic drag torque control, which stops the wheel from slipping when too much force is applied to the throttle. Weight is a key factor in achieving more performance, so the chassis was trimmed down, and the swingarm is lighter than the one on the RR.

The new S 1000 R comes with three riding modes, Rain, Road, and Dynamic, all offered as standard.

In 2022 the 2020 BMW S 1000 R was for sale with prices ranging from $13,000 to $17,000.
