At Risk Student

An at-risk student describes a student or groups of students who are likely to fail or drop out of their school. Grades, absenteeism and disruptive behavior are indicators of an at-risk student. In order to prevent student failure or drop out, it’s important for professors to track which students start the term with low grades, which students skip class and those who disturb others who are trying to learn.

An at-risk student refers to students who have a high probability of flunking a class or dropping out of their school. Factors that can create an at-risk student can include homelessness, pregnancy, health and financial issues, domestic violence and more.
