Arkansas Black Apple Tree
Love this beautiful tree! Healthy and happy so far with my other two apple trees. Can’t wait to see it fruit.
Arkansas Black apples are my favorite. They are not always available in NC. I thought I would try growing some trees and see if I could harvest a few. So far a good start for the sapling. I hope that it will continue to grow and provide fruit in a couple of years.
My tree is healthy and thriving in its environment
Tree arrived promptly, in great condition. Was packaged with another apple tree i got to act as a pollinator. I am excited for this to bear fruit hopefully next year. One question, is this a grafted tree ? There are some suckers coming up and i was thinking of trying to propagate them to give as gifts, but i didn’t know if the root stock is different. 10/10 highly recommend

Estimated Shipping Time: Most orders ship immediately. As noted on the website, some items are seasonal, and may only ship in spring or fall. Once your order is shipped, you’ll receive an email with a tracking number.
3. Pruning: Once your tree has become established and is starting to bear fruit, it will need some periodic, moderate pruning. Only prune the tree during times of dormancy, making sure to remove any vigorous, upright stems, as well as weak, damaged or dead branches.
2. Watering: Your Arkansas Black Apple will benefit from a regular watering each week. You may need to water more often in times of extreme heat or drought. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check the soil down to about 2 or 3 inches. If it’s dry here, it’s time to water.
Keep in mind that the Arkansas Black will need two different Apple varieties nearby to pollination, or one different self-fertile Apple Tree (like the Gala or Granny Smith) planted nearby.
1. Planting: For best results, choose a location with well-draining soil and full sun (6 hours of sunlight per day). When you’re ready to plant, dig a hole that’s twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Then, place your tree, back fill the soil and tamp down to eliminate air pockets. Finally, mulch to preserve moisture and water to settle the roots.
Arkansas Black Apple Trees are not self-fertile . You will need to plant another variety to achieve fruiting. Below are the most effective pollinators we have chosen for your area…

Watering Water regularly each week when the soil gets dry 2-3 inches down. Make sure to water more often if the tree is potted or there is a period of drought.
Sunlight Arkansas Black Apples thrive in full sun, so make sure you plant in a spot that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day.

Because this tree is grown in a burlap bag, its roots grow into the cloth, rather than circling around the pot. This brings moisture and nutrients into the tree, for faster, healthier growth and ease. Simply dig your hole, place the Drop ‘N Grow™ bag in the center (burlap included), then use excess dirt to fill the hole. That’s it!
