My children went to an IB school in the US. Since SAIS offers a blend of American and IB curriculum, I’d expect the transition back to be fairly smooth.

There is an active PTA. There are also many parent/family events throughout the school year. Very open communication between parents and teachers. Parents can really get involved at different levels.
