American Horror Stories season 2 – Everything you need to know

American Horror Story and American Horror Stories spoilers follow.

Why have one American Horror Story a year when you can have multiple stories in one season? That’s the basic premise behind American Horror Stories, the show’s ghoulish spin-off that tackles brand new scares with a different cast each week.

Except, they’re not all new – because plenty of Ryan Murphy’s favourite alumni pop up in this show, and sometimes they even connect the spin-off back to his main flagship series.

It was always clear that American Horror Stories would fare well with fans of the franchise, and now it’s just a waiting game to see what the next batch of tales hold.

But what exactly lies ahead? Here’s everything you need to know about American Horror Stories season two…

American Horror Stories will drop on US screens on July 21, 2022.

It will air on FX in the US, and while a UK release is yet to be confirmed, it’s likely it will pop up on Disney+ alongside the rest of the American Horror Story family.

The episodes will air weekly.

The series will come ahead of the release of American Horror Story season 11, as well as the upcoming further Ryan Murphy projects, American Sports Story and American Love Story.

FX

American Horror Stories season two cast, as suspected, features returning faces from the AHS franchise as well as some new bloody.

However, it’s not known how significant each actor will be or what their role even is.

Familiar stars include:

• Cody Fern (from Apocalypse, 1984 and Double Feature)
• Max Greenfield (from Hotel)
• Nico Greetham (from Double Feature)
• Denis O’Hare (from Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel and Double Feature)
• Gabourey Sidibe (from Coven, Freak Show and Apocalypse)

Then of course, there’s the new stars being brought into the fold. Many have previously appeared in the Murphy-verse (naturally), whereas some are complete newcomers.

      This includes:

      • Dominique Jackson (Pose, American Gods)
      • Judith Light (The Politician and Ugly Betty)
      • Alicia Silverstone (Clueless)
      • Bella Thorne (Scream: The TV Series, The Duff)
      • Quvenzhané Wallis (Annie [2014], Swagger)

As previously explained, American Horror Stories is a different tale every episode – but that hasn’t stopped the promotional material following some pretty creepy threads.

This time around, it seems attached somewhat to very, very freaky-looking dolls, with a trailer revealing Denis O’Hare’s character is the curator of a life-size dollhouse in at least one of the episodes.

In another, Bella Thorne’s character is determined to ignore the imminent threat of a serial killer running around her town, while others appear to be period pieces.

But with the entire world of American Horror Story to play around in, not to mention brand new locales as well, there’s lots of scope for a whole new set of stories in season two.

While season one dove heavily into the Murder House storyline, future episodes could revisit any of the other nine seasons featured in American Horror Story; Asylum’s Briarcliff Manor, the Florida Freak Show, even Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies from Coven is up for grabs.

American Horror Stories season 2 trailer: Is there any footage yet?

This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Yes! The official trailer finally dropped on July 14 – just a week before the episodes started streaming.

Leading the stories, Denis O’Hare looks positively creepy as a kidnapper who turns women into dolls for his own dollhouse.

Alicia Silverstone is also being haunted in her house by a seeming demon, a coroner seems to have a particular fascination with her work, while a badly bandaged person is seen writhing around in pools of blood (yup… multiple).

So it seems like your average day in the AHS universe then!

American Horror Stories returns July 21 on FX in the US, with a UK release yet to be confirmed.
