Amazon’s vision statement

It’s always interesting to read and think through companies’ vision statements. One of my favourite vision statements is Amazon’s.

“Our vision is to be Earth’s most customer-centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online, and endeavours to offer its customers the lowest possible prices.”

For me, it tells you exactly what Amazon wants to create and will sell 360 degrees of what people need in life, in private and at work. And it’s simple, short, easy to remember and direct.

Amazon’s mission statement is:

“To serve consumers through online and physical stores and focus on selection, price, and convenience.”

Amazon’s vision statement extends its mission “to be Earth’s most customer-centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online, and endeavours to offer its customers the lowest possible prices.”

Amazon’s core values

Amazon’s core values align with its vision and mission statements. Amazon has plenty of values to support in attaining its objectives. However, in the book “The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon,” there are six core values outlined:

  • Customer Obsession

  • Bias for Action

  • Ownership

  • Frugality

  • Innovation, and

  • High bar for talent

I understand why Amazon are good at using data about me and using it subtly; they have a vision and a mission that drives them in the right direction!
