Amazon launches its Global Selling program in Vietnam | KrASIA

US-based e-commerce company Amazon has launched its Amazon Global Selling program—which supports local businesses to sell internationally—today in Vietnam, hoping to tap on the online potential of the country’s manufacturing and export-oriented sectors, according to the company.

Amazon Global Selling will employ a dedicated team to support Vietnamese businesses to sell on Amazon, and will ensure its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) services to sellers, which allows businesses to store their products in one of Amazon’s 175 fulfilment centres worldwide. Amazon will also pick, pack, ship, and provide customer service for these products.

Prior to the launch, Amazon Global Selling had already been working closely with the Vietnam Department of Trade Promotion and selected 100 SMEs in Vietnam to participate in the program.

Speaking at the launch event, as reported by local media, Bernard Tay, who oversees Amazon Global Selling in Southeast Asia, said Vietnamese businesses will have access to both Amazon.com and Amazon.sg (Singapore) to sell their products.

Earlier this month, Amazon launched Amazon.sg in Singapore as its first online store in Southeast Asia. The latter offers a large range of local products from small and medium-sized enterprises. With the move, Amazon will compete directly with big regional rivals such as Shopee and Lazada.

The country head of Amazon Global Selling in Vietnam is Tran Xuan Thuy. He was formerly vice president of seller operation for Lazada Group and country manager for Alibaba Group, according to his LinkedIn page.
