Amazon Scout

At Amazon, we continually invest in new technologies to benefit customers. We’ve been hard at work developing a new, fully-electric delivery system – Amazon Scout – designed to safely get packages to customers using autonomous delivery devices. These devices were created by Amazon, are the size of a small cooler, and roll along sidewalks at a walking pace.

We developed Amazon Scout at our research and development labs in Seattle, ensuring the devices can safely and efficiently navigate around pets, pedestrians, and anything else in their path. These labs give engineers, scientists, and our operations staff the opportunity to quickly build and test the delivery devices. We don’t need to wait on external parts or software updates; we can rapidly prototype hardware components and write new code, and are able to validate our efforts in real-time.
