New Delhi: E-commerce major Amazon India has waived off referral fee for sellers by 50 per cent to incentivize new sellers to leverage e-commerce , the company announced in a press release on Tuesday.Referral fee is paid by sellers to Amazon for facilitating sales on the online marketplace.“As the new year begins, we are thrilled to announce a 50% referral fee waiver for ‘new to e-commerce’ businesses on Amazon.in. We believe that with the right support, small businesses can grow,” commented Amit Nanda, director, selling partner services, Amazon India.Nanda highlighted that the announcement is in line with the company’s commitment to digitize 10 million Indian small businesses by 2025.The waiver will be applicable for a period of 60 days for new sellers registering on the platform between January 15 to April 14, 2023.This initiative will help ‘New-to-e-commerce’ businesses establish a foothold in the competitive e-commerce market by reducing their upfront costs and growing their business, the company said.Amazon India currently claims to have over 1.2 million sellers registered on its marketplace.
