Air India Express Website Records Surge In Bookings After Recent Changes
Following the integration of the reservation systems of Air India Express and AirAsia India (now AIX Connect), the new website has seen a spike in bookings. The two budget airlines under the Tata Group are very close to being merged, and combining their customer-facing processes was one of the first steps in that direction. And judging from the recent response, things seem to be going well.
Surge in bookings
The combined website for Air India Express and AirAsia India (airindiaexpress.com) is attracting many customers following the recent changes. On March 27th, the Air India Group announced that the two low-cost airlines moved to a single, unified reservation system.

According to the airline, the website has witnessed a surge of visitors within days of launch, contributing over 25% of international flight revenue on the first day itself. Both airlines are attracting customers to the website, which now unifies their entire commercial ecosystem.

Now that the reservation system has been launched, both Air India Express and AirAsia India will focus on having common airport check-in systems in a phased manner at all international terminals in India, followed by the overseas network.

Dubai is the largest source
The carrier has revealed a breakdown of the top sources of traffic to the website, and Dubai has topped the list, with other international sources being Abu Dhabi, Doha, Sharjah, and Singapore.
This is not all that surprising, considering the Middle East features heavily on the airline’s network, with Dubai, in particular, holding great importance. Air India Express recently made changes to its flight network to Dubai, removing metros like Delhi and Mumbai (which continue to be served by Air India) and adding Goa and Indore to the list of cities with a non-stop connection with Dubai.

AirAsia India has managed to attract domestic traffic to the website, mainly from Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, its biggest markets in the country.
The two airlines now also have common social media handles on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as 24*7 customer support on a common WhatsApp number, Facebook Messenger, and the common website.
