Adopt a Dog – Young At Heart
MEET & GREETS/ADOPTIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT WITH AN APPROVED APPLICATION. IF YOU PREFER A MASKED ADOPTION APPOINTMENT, PLEASE JUST LET US KNOW. YOUR COMFORT IS IMPORTANT TO US!
How to adopt a Young at Heart dog:
There is nothing sweeter than a senior dog getting a second chance and a happily ever after with a family who loves him or her with their whole hearts. To ensure a successful adoption, we work with you to find the right dog to match your lifestyle and needs.
To begin the adoption process:
- Complete an application. The approval process can take up to 3 days during a normal work week. Please note: applications submitted Sat/Sun/Mon may take longer to complete, as we are closed Sun/Mon. If you do not hear from us, please contact us as sometimes applications do not go through.
- Once your application is approved, you’ll hear from the adoption team and make an appointment to meet the dog(s) you are interested in.
- If the meeting goes well and all parties feel it’s a good match, complete the adoption paperwork and welcome your new family member!
If you see a dog on our website or meet one at an adoption event that you are interested in, please complete our online adoption application. We will contact you once your application has been processed. Submitting an application does not guarantee that you can adopt the pet you are interested in, as we place our senior pets based on their needs and with the home that is the best fit for them. Applicants must live within 150 mile radius of our adoption center in Woodstock, IL.
THERE IS A $200* ADOPTION FEE FOR DOGS. This helps us cover a fraction of the veterinary cost of getting a senior pet ready for a new home. A home visit may be required. A binding contract will be required to adopt the animal. Please note there may be other applications being considered for any given animal. Young at Heart pets are not placed on a “first come, first served” basis. Instead, homes are chosen based on the needs and the best fit for each senior pet.
