Abbott Laboratories

Abbott Laboratories is a Chicago-based medical products company known for its diagnostics, medical devices, nutrition products, and branded generic pharmaceuticals. Among Abbott’s most well-known brands are Pedialyte, Ensure, Similac, and Glucerna. In 2020, Abbott played an important role in combating the coronavirus pandemic through its development of one of the first rapid COVID tests, the ID Now molecular test that delivered results in as little as 15 minutes. Partnering with the federal government, Abbott provided states with millions of rapid COVID tests, over 3 million of which were sent to California’s most disadvantaged school districts for free. In early 2013, Abbott spun off AbbVie, its research-based pharmaceuticals business.
