For both model years, the 3 Series is available with a twin-scroll turbo 2.0-liter, I-4 engine that produces 255 horsepower at the starting trim level. Another powertrain found in higher trim levels for 2020 and 2021 is a twin-scroll turbo V6, 3.0-liter engine. With e-Boost and mild-hybrid technology, this engine delivers 382 horsepower. The new powertrain for 2021 is a plug-in hybrid in the 330e trim level. This engine adds hybrid technology to the I-4 gas engine, and it produces 288 combined horsepower.
Appearance
The lovely exterior design throughout the 2020 BMW 3 Series is identical for 2021 on a trim-by-trim basis. This sedan’s exterior is defined by smoothly defined surfaces over the hood and side panels, and the lower-side panel has a twisting, crisp accent line for added personality. The front end has piercing, scalloped LED headlights that extend to the sleek grille. From the sharp lower-front definition to the power liftgate, heated side mirrors, and other elements, the 3 Series has the exterior looks and features that you want your next car to have.

The 2020 3 Series is well-appointed with an extensive array of premium features across all trims. For 2021, wireless Android Auto is added to the smart device integration technology. Other equipment in the 3 Series for both years includes heated seats, a high-level sound system, SiriusXM satellite tech, dynamic cruise control, a rear vision camera, and other items.
