2021 Ford Ranger price and specs: 4×2 XL Sport variant added alongside range-wide tech and engine upgrades

Meanwhile, the existing Ranger 4×4 XL Heavy Duty Special Edition has received significant upgrades, adaptive cruise control now comes standard on all Ranger XLT variants, and 4×4 XL models are now available with Ford’s powerful bi-turbo powertrain option for the first time.

The Ford Ranger XL 4×4 Heavy Duty Special Edition (shown above) – available only in arctic white, and priced from $52,790 plus on-road costs – has also been upgraded, and now features a factory-fitted bull bar, snorkel, black 17-inch steel wheels, heavy-duty suspension, and a rear-view camera kit as standard (these were previously offered across two seperate option packages).

Adaptive cruise control – which allows the vehicle to ‘latch’ on to the car in front and maintain a safe distance – now comes standard on all Ranger XLT Series pick-ups.

As the most powerful engine in the line-up, the bi-turbo puts out 157kW/500Nm. This is sent to the ground via a 10-speed automatic transmission
