Its purpose is to present accurate information in compact, readable form. Since its first printing in 1919, it has proved its value both as a source of essential knowledge and as an efficient tool for organized study.” Revisions to reflect new political realities, knowledge, inventions and discoveries had, since the end of WWI, forced a new edition to be published almost every each year. To accomplish this, a staff of 15 editors and 84 experts throughout the country were employed to keep information up-to-date. There are 3,952 pages n the 10 volume set, pages are numbered consecutively through the volumes for the entire set. Text enhanced with B&W photos& line drawings plus several full color plate and 3-page fold-outs. When shelved normally, the 10 volumes take 12.75″ linear shelf-space. Hardcover volumes have navy impressed leatherette boards with gold lettering on the spine, but no dust jackets. I did not notice any marking within the text, however POS (lends no additional value) in volume 1 with Hebrew/Arabic alphabet & numerals in front end-papers. Each volume in the entire set is tightly bound with little wear either externally or internally. Even the 3 page fold-outs seem complete. Copyrights 1919, 1922-6, 1928, 1930, 1932-9, 1941-52. 1952 edition, print-run not found. Printed in U.S.A. No ISBN, LCCN nor MSR.
